Thank you to all who have offered to help and sent good wishes and prayers. And thank you to those who were kind and understanding on Saturday. We are truly sorry we couldn’t make all your hot chocolate dreams come true!
I spent some time today looking at the space that Sarah (Millborne Bakery) and I are creating and remembered all of the intense lows our Jackson Square survived. It was different then. There were less employees who relied on me, less creditors wanting payment, and no worry that failure would result in hurting two great small businesses. But, sitting here, I know that this space will be filled with the same love and light as our home base. The amount of work Sarah has already put into it is commendable and I am so proud to say I get to work alongside her and her crew. Through the month of December, Evie and I will continue to run the Calamitys Millborne Location with the intention of making it its own special place—it is not Jackson Square and wasn’t intended to be.
For the moment, our electrical can’t handle large groups of people at once, but it is okay with the steady stream we’ve been seeing. Those of you who have followed us on our journey know this happened multiple times at Jackson Square. But, the one thing I’ve learned is that listening to the Calamitys spirit always leads to success. Ours is a spirit of perseverance. Dreams come true with grit and passion, not easily.
As I got ready to leave, I snapped this picture. I think it really says everything. Millborne is part of the Calamity’s future, and there is place to find hope even in the most worrisome of times.
Long story short: we will be open on Tuesday from 7am-2:30pm. As our numbers increase, we will ensure our electrical can support our needs and our contractor is already working with us to make sure this happens in a timely manner.
