I'm a fully licensed, legal & state inspected home based bakery located near the heart of Oak Harbor, Washington on scenic Whidbey Island. I have been decorating cakes off and on for over 30 years. Most of my schooling has been self taught. But I have also had the privilege to be mentored from some of the best artisans in the cake industry. y at home mother to three wonderful children. I feel blessed that I am able to do the best of both worlds. With that said, I maintain the strictest handling and cleaning procedures mandated by state law and have passed the Washington state Food Handlers Exam to have my food handlers permit. As well as the state health inspection which is stricter than most restaurants here in Washington. And was asked by the state to be part of the committee that helped to "re-vamp/'re-write" the laws in 2016 for the Cottage Food Operation Permit. I am the type of person that loves to create art. Especially in edible form for people. I use nothing but the freshest ingredients available to me. All cakes are done within 24-48 hours before they are due for your event to ensure the freshest product available. Please contact me within a minimum of one week or more to book your event as I do fill up quickly.. I have created everything from simple birthday cakes, elaborate wedding cakes to sculpted cakes. I am also known for doing cookies, scones, cupcakes, muffins, breads, jams & jellies and Artisan chocolates. If you are also interested in learning, I do offer classes from time to time. I know it has been a very long time since everyone has heard from me. In case you’re all wondering I am still dealing with health issues but have some answers now as to why I’ve deteriorated in the last two years as I have. About a month ago I was hospitalized for 9 days due to suffering a spontaneous cardiac artery tear in my left artery coming off of my heart and I threw a TIA at the same time. While I was in the hospital I suffered 3 more heart attacks. Right now I am very lucky to be alive. But due to the location of the tear bypass surgery is extremely difficult to perform and the doctors are afraid a stent will make the tear worse. This tear can take up to 6 months to heal. So for now I am undergoing cardiac rehabilitation at home and taking things very easy. However with this attack the doctors were able to determine why I suddenly developed blood clots in my leg which have not gone away in 2 years but gotten worse. Turns out I have May Thurner Syndrome which is very rare. My artery is being crushed by another artery and having surgery for a stent is the only way to fix it and to have blood flow back to my leg. Only problem is we have to wait until my heart is strong enough to handle that surgery. I am hoping after my heart heals and the surgery with my leg I can return back to creating wonderful treats for everyone. Unfortunately I do not know when that will be. And I can only take each day as it comes. I appreciate all of you and do miss creating delicious memories for everyone. When I get closer to being able to do treats again, teach or judge at shows I will let you all know. For now do me a favor and enjoy each day with the ones you love.
