There is something especially beautiful about designing with the garden in August, when everything feels abundant, a little wild + perfectly imperfect.

Rose Farm had the pleasure of styling the florals for this beautiful private gathering, bringing the textures + colors of the late-summer garden indoors. From sprawling tablescapes and overflowing arrangements to greenery tucked along the fireplace, every floral moment was designed to feel as though it had been gathered straight from the garden.

Hydrangea, dahlias, Queen Anne’s lace, amaranth, zinnias, grasses, herbs + layers upon layers of seasonal foliage came together in an organic, garden-inspired palette that felt right at home in this incredible setting.

On August 20th, we welcomed guests to the Garden Pavilion for a beautiful Private Dinner Experience benefiting St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School.

The evening began with cocktails and a generous grazing table created by Chef Aaron Holt of Doolittle Farm, featuring local Iowa cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruit, homemade jam, Iowa honey, nuts, pickles + toasts. Guests mingled, wandered the flower gardens, and soaked in one of those gorgeous August evenings at the farm before finding their seats around the table.

Crisp blue + white gingham napkins brought a playful, end-of-summer feel to the setting, while arrangements with freshly gathered blooms from The Grace, dahlias, hydrangea, garden roses + more, brought the colors of the garden right to the table.

Chef Aaron created a menu that was truly a celebration of Iowa in late summer. Guests began with a baby romaine wedge dressed with Maytag blue cheese, beet-cured egg, candied Iowa bacon + marinated tomatoes. Next came a wonderfully playful nod to fair season: smoked turkey leg meatballs on a stick served over sweet corn chowder with microgreens. The main course was pure Iowa comfort food, a Hot Beef Sundae layered with toasted artisan bread, braised Iowa Wagyu beef, whipped potatoes, beef-peppered gravy + chives. Dinner ended with Peachy’s Donuts, served with Over the Top ice cream, vanilla glaze, fresh peaches, local honey + edible flower petals.

In late June, Rose Farm had the honor of welcoming the Great Outdoors Foundation for its third annual Catalyst Dinner, an intimate evening created to celebrate the partnerships, people and shared purpose driving meaningful water quality and conservation work across Iowa.

The Catalyst Dinner brings together investors in Great Outdoors Foundation’s Conservation Acceleration Fund alongside partners, board members, public officials and fellow water quality stakeholders. With a thoughtfully limited guest list, the evening is intentionally personal, creating space for meaningful conversation, shared stories and new connections around the table.

Between courses, guests heard remarks from GOF leadership, board members and public officials, reflecting on the progress being made through creative public-private partnerships while also looking ahead to the important work that remains. Perhaps the greatest measure of the evening’s impact happens after the final course is served: conversations sparked at the Catalyst Dinner have continued well beyond each of the three gatherings, inspiring deeper relationships and continued investment in conservation efforts throughout Iowa.

Every element of the evening was designed with purpose. Shades of blue, a signature of past Catalyst Dinners, flowed throughout the event, while clear glass vessels offered a beautiful visual connection to water. From the invitations to the seating chart and individual place cards, each detail was meticulously considered to help tell the story of the evening.

This year brought an especially memorable addition: a live painter, who captured the beauty and spirit of Rose Farm throughout the dinner. By evening’s end, a custom 3’ x 4’ painting had taken shape, creating a lasting piece of art inspired by the setting + the gathering itself. Following the event, framed reproductions were sent to guests as a thoughtful thank you and a tangible reminder of the evening, its conversations, and its purpose.

It’s + today we’re buzzing with appreciation for one of our incredible Rose Farm Busy Bees, Karter! Karter is a true farmstead MVP and the kind of person who can jump into just about any job + make it look easy. He seamlessly cross-pollinates between roles, always ready to lend a hand wherever he’s needed most. You might find him in the fields planting, weeding + harvesting blooms, helping reset after a workshoppe, or working alongside our celebration crew to bring a special event to life.

Karter is also an important part of our Victoria’s House grounds team + the trusted right-hand man to Mr. Rose. Whether there’s something to haul, plant, fix, clean up, set up, or simply figure out, Karter is ready to roll up his sleeves + get to work, and usually with a big smile along the way.

Kind, respectful, hardworking + dependable, Karter brings such a wonderful spirit to the farm. He’s someone we can count on, and we are incredibly grateful for the care + pride he brings to everything he does.

This fall, Karter begins his junior year at Martensdale-St. Mary’s Jr/Sr High, where his can-do spirit keeps him just as busy! He’s involved in FFA, Best Buddies, Student Council, Track + Cross Country, all while making plenty of time for the friends + family who mean so much to him.

Karter, thank you for all the ways you help Rose Farm grow, bloom + buzz! We’re so lucky to have you as part of our farm family, and we’ll be cheering you on throughout your junior year!

On July 21st, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Flynn Wright accounting department to Rose Farm for a beautiful summer afternoon of flowers, creativity + connection.

Gathered inside The Shoppe, guests joined us for a private, two-hour Art of Floral Styling Workshoppe to celebrate their department summer outing. With lemonade in hand + boxed lunches to enjoy, the afternoon offered a lovely opportunity to step away from the office, slow down + spend time together. Each guest received a gorgeous vessel and an abundant collection of blooms fresh from our summer gardens, including garden roses, dahlias, scabiosa, gomphrena + so many other seasonal favorites. With a little guidance from Karri Rose, everyone created a one-of-a-kind arrangement to take home and enjoy.

There’s something extra special about gathering around a table with armfuls of flowers, learning something new + sharing a few laughs along the way. We loved being part of this summer celebration and are so grateful to Flynn Wright for choosing Rose Farm for their department outing.
