When all else fails, try smoking a cigar and have a stiff drink. If that doesn’t work… have another.

This whiskey and cigar cake was for my dad’s birthday a few weeks ago! It was a german chocolate cake with coconut pecan filling and chocolate buttercream. I sprayed my dad’s favorite candies with edible gold to decorate, added a ganache drip, and finished it all off with some coffee flavored ci**rs and mini whiskies.

Just adding a little more greenery to your feed!

This cake was so much fun to design! I love working with greenery and this Madagascar cake had such a cute little vibe! This cake was for a little girl’s first birthday party, and a little over a year ago, her baby shower cake was MonkeyBug Cakery’s first official order! So sweet and special to have this come full circle! Maybe some day I’ll even get to make that sweet girl’s wedding cake!

Sweet monkey turns 7 this month and her birthday party these weekend was a SLAM DUNK! She had such an amazing turnout with her basketball team and a sweet family friend for her Space Jam themed party! The basketball was killer on my wrist to frost but so so worth it! I had the pleasure of making a wedding set for this couple and I absolutely loved the way this groom’s cake turned out, and without an ounce of fondant! It was a Tangled themed wedding so there were gorgeous sunflowers and purple flowers all over the venue! Absolutely stunning! Thank you for letting me be a part of your best day ever!

This wedding cake was white cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream, which gave it major strawberry and cream vibes! I used olive branches and sweet peas, ordered through , to give it a simple but elegant design! This bride was amazing to work with and I wish her and her husband a lifetime of happiness!

Betcha didn’t see this camo Kit-Kat cake coming!

I love getting requests for things I’ve never tried before! During our consult, this client mentioned that her husband loves hunting and all things outdoorsy! So together we came up with this! A camo cake with big buttercream swirls on top, a chocolate ganache drip, and gold leaf on the bottom edge to give it a little something extra. And this cake has a secret inside! Crushed dark chocolate Kit-Kats between every layer of cake! Her husband’s favorite candy! I went ahead and did a rough chop on some more Kit Kat’s and added them to the top to tie it all together and I think it turned out amazing! This client put a lot of thought into this and I heard the man of the hour absolutely loved it!

The Story Behind MonkeyBug

Welcome to MonkeyBug Cakery! My name is Abby and this is my story...

My cakery inspiration is due to my daughter and son whose nicknames are Monkey and Bug.

It all began when my daughter’s first birthday was quickly approaching. On a whim I decided to make her first birthday cake and smash cake! I had such a blast making that cake that from that point on my children’s cakes have been made 100% by me out of my kitchen. All of my expertise is self taught with hours of mess-ups and successes, which has led me to my current skill level.

Monkey’s first birthday cake led into my passion of preparing kids cakes. However I have been known to do a sophisticated cake or two over the years. I love seeing the look on my kids faces as they light up and admire the artwork I put together for their special day. I’m now ready to venture out into sharing that same joyous smile on other children’s (and adults) faces as I make each one out of my own kitchen.
