Just in case you’ve forgotten, we have 3 hazelnut varieties using the best Barcelona strain in Oregon!

Check out our Cinnamon Roasted, award winning Garlic, Parmesan, Cracked Black Pepper or Dry Roasted Hazelnuts at an event or market near you, our North Plains sweet shoppe, or website at

Right now, across the Willamette Valley, farmers are out shaking hazelnut trees and sweeping the ground clean, because September and October are harvest season for Oregon's official state nut. 🌰 It is not a small operation: Oregon grows 99 percent of the entire United States hazelnut supply, almost all of it from this one valley.

The industry traces back to 1858, when a settler named Sam Strictland planted Oregon's first hazelnut tree. It stayed a backyard curiosity until 1903, when George Dorris planted the state's first real commercial orchard using Barcelona trees, stock that is still behind more than half of the hazelnut trees growing in Oregon today.

More than 1,300 farms now grow hazelnuts across the valley floor, and Oregon ranks third in the world behind only Italy and Turkey. In a good year the state grows enough hazelnuts to give every single Oregonian one serving a day, all year long. 🥜

Have you ever tried a fresh Oregon hazelnut straight out of the shell, or only the ones already roasted and packaged?
