Morning Bread Lovers!

Today is National Repeat day... Today is national repeat day.... And it's Whoopie Pie Wednesday at Bread Guy Breads, let me repeat that, today is the one day week we make our delicious Whoopie Pies. This is a great day to rewatch that favorite video, listen to a song twice, read the same bedtime story to your kids, all the while eating a whoopi pie\s... or two since you're repeating things. Again… repeated and summed up; eat lots of pastry…

We made some cool stuff today. I finally made a coffee roll. I had been saying I would make that for a while, it looks and tastes great. We have our usual breakfast sandwiches, and we have sticky buns today.

We are doing some research on developing a blue berry swirl bread. Check in tomorrow to see if it worked.

OK, Grafton Farmers market opens two weeks from today. I will post summer hours early next week. We have some cool ideas for the market this year.

Happy Saturday Morning Bread Lovers,

Yep, it’s cold, and wet, and gray, and damp and well, let’s just say it's a good day to be a duck. No matter, we got you covered… it is not cold, wet, gray or damp in the store. In fact, the store is bright, warm, dry and smells of bread. Plus we have lots of great stuff this morning and unfortunately, we don’t allow ducks in the store. (It’s not that we don’t like ducks, it all the feathers they leave behind, you know what I’m talking about… )

So today we have a couple of new things that we are trying out. Today we made an Apricot Pistachio Danish roll up, we made an Almond Raspberry Danish Roll up. We added a double chocolate croissant to the line up, we made some apple cinnamon rolls, blueberry cinnamon rolls, and we have a chocolate hazelnut bun that is super delicious. And we have fruit pockets, (cinnamon is on the list) Scones, muffins, croissant, turnovers, crumb cake, croissant cinnamon rolls, yum buns, cinnamon rolls, danish and probably some more stuff that I am forgetting. Yep, we made a pistachio muffin today and a hazelnut scone.

For breads we have all the usuals and Saturday is the day we make Everything bread and Asiago Parm. The pickle bread is selling well so we will keep it on the menu for a while. Then we have English Muffins, cheese bites, pretzels, bulkie rolls, cookies, and lots of focaccia.

Finally we made a BBQ Bacon, hamburger savory roll and roasted Zucchini, caramelized onion Savory roll and a Pepperoni and spinach savory roll.

Some of the new stuff we are trying out for the Grafton Farmers Market that opens on June 17th. We are trying out new products that are shelf stable to bring to the market.

Yea, it’s Thursday, the weekend is in sight.

So, I have to apologize.. It seems like every Thursday I shamelessly promote PIZZA day. I am sure you want to see something else. I think this week I should take a break and not talk about PIZZA day. I think you already know that PIZZA day is on Thursdays so I will not post about PIZZA day. So… what else to talk about….. (insert cricket sounds)...... Nice weather today…?

….. We have a lot of cool products today, savory rolls,( Mushroom/swiss, a pastrami ruben and a Italian sub savory roll). We have some cool pastries this morning. I made lots of classic sourdoughs, we have Garlic Black Pepper Sourdough, Sourdough Pickle Bread, a really nice looking Garlic Cheddar bread and lots and lots more. See, I can promote something other than PIZZA on Thursdays. Who would of thought… It is PIZZA Thursday and here I am not talking about PIZZA in my post.

We are here and open till 5:00, Stop by the store and grab some bread, rolls or pastries.

Hey Bread Lovers!

Happy Whoopi Pie Wednesday. So yesterday, I tied a Whoppi Pie to my head. It looked great and I thought it was a good way to advertise Whoopi Pie Wednesday. The first customer I saw asked me why I was wearing a Whoopi Pie on my head, I said enthusiastically, "It's Wednesday, Whoopi Pie Wednesday..." He told me it was only Tuesday.... Boy, I must of looked a fool.

Everything looks great today. We have Breakfast sandwiches, spinach feta danish, a fig-prosciutto-goat cheese roll up, an almond-raspberry roll up, blueberry pockets and strudel. Plus muffins, (pistachio is in the case) and savory rolls.

Yes, we have a lot of great stuff today. Pickle bread, Garlic Black Pepper, baguettes, sandwich, classics and so much more.

We are open till 5:00 pm, stop by and grab some bread for the week and more.

Good Morning Bread Lovers!

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! We had a great tribute to my niece and it was great to be with family.

On the way home Jet Blue gave us a huge treat. They designed an incredible tour of the airport for us.. It was great, first they put us at one gate, then so we could see additional areas in the airport they moved us to another gate in a concourse all the way across the airport, then, so we could really see the airport they moved us to a different gate even further away. Wow, like how incredible, we saw so much of the airport that we might not have seen…, did you know there is a Hudson News in every terminal? We do now… And even better, Jet Blue gave us an additional 5 hours to see the airport in full. They would absolutely not let our plane take off until we got the full tour and that took 5 hours extra… talk about making sacrifices for the customer… that is some kind of customer service… which kind… I’m not sure… but at least we made it home before the memorial day parade that we slept through. What an “interesting” experience.

And, we made it back in time to get the sourdough starter going and dough made for this morning. We are open and ready to serve today. We have lots of bread and rolls, I made a poppy seed crescent roll and all the other favorites.

We are open and thank you all for understanding our closure this weekend. We have regular hours all week.

Happy Pizza Day!

We are having a little dilemma today. Since we are closed this weekend we felt like we should make some of the special items that we make for Friday and Saturday today. So today is like a Friday but it can’t be Friday because we don’t sell pizza on Friday. Yet, it is not like an ordinary Thursday because we made extra stuff. So, I need to rename today… for one day only…

Today is: Happy Pizza Day that feels like a Friday. (Cool name huh, I thought it up myself.)

And that means, pizza for sure, plus croissant cinnamon rolls, and yep… crumb cake, and extra croissants and lots and lots of pastry, breads and rolls. We are hoping people come by for their weekend fix today.

We made pickle bread today… I recommend it for burgers this weekend. A nice juicy burger on pickle bread is pretty awesome. I made a little Irish Soda bread today. Most of the batch will be heading to the family gathering this weekend but have a few extra loaves for sale as well.

OK, Lots and lots of stuff today, open till 5:00 pm. I am leaving early today but my staff is prepped and ready for the whole day.

Good Morning Bread Lovers,

3:00 am and the first 40 loaves of bread are in the oven already. This is the quiet time when the only sound in the bakery is the hum of the ovens and purring of the refrigerators. Soon, the bakery will be filled with the smell of baking bread.

This is a great time to reflect and think about some amazing happenings. I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support in this tough time. Our facebook post was filled with expressions of sympathy and condolences. My sister was so touched by the community that is Bread Guy Breads and their support and caring. I was so happy we were able to bring her a moment of happiness and peace. Thank you to all.

SOOO… Even though the earth’s orbit has changed and based on the latest hot weather, we are clearly drawing closer to the sun every minute. Bread Guy Breads does not fear this coming calamity… we stand bravely in front of 500 degrees ovens and make bread for the masses. (Also, the air conditioner is working fine for now.) And yes, heatwave, heat index, red ball, whatever they call it… we are open!

Plus!!!!! It is Whoopi PIe Wednesday, today is the day we make pumpernickel bread and well, we are only going to be open today and tomorrow this week. Then, you have to wait till Tuesday to get bread. Try to stop in today or tomorrow, if not… wonder bread from the supermarket…. That should scare you enough to stop by… just sayin.

Hey Bread Lovers,

So, we will be closed this coming weekend. We had some devastating news in mid-April that my niece had passed away from sepsis shock. It is beyond tragic... and we are still in shock over the loss. She was amazing... a light is gone from this world... and while we continue on, we are grieving everyday.

This coming weekend (Memorial Day Weekend) our extended family will gather to celebrate her life, try to comfort my sister, and mourn together.

Accordingly we will be closed on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26.

I will make some extra bread on Wednesday and Thursday so we can get everyone through the days we are closed.

Happy Friday Bread Lovers,

We are open and fully stocked for a beautiful Friday. Amazingly we survived the Typhoon yesterday and we are ready to serve. There are so many cool things on the menu today, you should definitely come by and see what we have. (I know.... cruel not telling you what...)

I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify some important historical quotes that were actually about bread but over the years were changed. For example: Admiral Farragut was quoted as said "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead." What he actually said was, Damn the torpedoes, I want some bread... and when JFK said "ich bin Berliner" what he really said was, I want some butter... check out the photo, he was holding a baguette. The list goes on and on and totally reinforces how important bread is in history.

So, as you can see, bread is important and you need to stop by and grab some today. In the immortal words of Nathan Hale, I only regret that I have one loaf to give for my country.
