hi friends 🤍
i wanted to give everyone a little update on the bread shed situation because so many of you have been asking and supporting me through all of this.
the town reached out regarding my stand because technically i run my business from a residential property, and there are rules about accessory structures, home businesses, placement of sheds/stands, and how visible businesses can be in neighborhoods. from what i understand, they’re mainly concerned that the bread shed is in the front yard and operates more like a storefront than a typical “home occupation.”
i truly never had intentions of causing issues — this little shed started as a way for me, as a single mom, to share what i love and support my family from my home kitchen. what started as a hobby turned into something so much bigger because of this community, and i honestly still can’t believe the amount of support you all have shown me.
right now i’m trying to figure out the best next steps while staying compliant with the town and still being able to continue my business in some way. i may need to move the stand, modify it, or completely rethink how pickups work moving forward.
i’d genuinely love your thoughts — what would you do in my situation? 🤍
also, thank you again for all the kindness, messages, and support. seeing so many people rally behind a small local business has meant more to me than you know
EDIT TO ADD: the most frustrating thing about this is the bread shed is only open 1-2 days a week for a couple hours. all customers are so respectful and welcoming. the shed is too large to put in the garage, and we need to be able to move it (keep the wheels on). the town recommended converting half our garage into a “storefront” but unfortunately that’s not an option as we won’t be in this home forever. 💔
