Sunflower Bakery was pleased to welcome representatives from the Maryland DORS Region 6 Office for a recent visit to our facility.

👋🏼 The visit provided an opportunity to showcase our training programs, connect with staff, and highlight the impact of our work in preparing individuals for meaningful employment.

During their time at Sunflower, the DORS team learned more about our Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, and Hospitality programs and saw firsthand the skills, dedication, and growth of our students.

The visit also allowed for valuable conversation around how we can continue to strengthen our partnership and expand opportunities for those we serve.

As we wind down Jewish American Heritage Month on May 31, Sunflower Bakery is proud to celebrate the contributions of Jewish Americans - nationality and locally.

🌻 Recently our Executive Director, Jody Tick, was invited to serve on a panel hosted by the Montgomery County Planning Department in honor of this occasion.

Jody joined three other panelists from local Jewish organizations whose missions reflect the value of tikkun olam (repairing the world) which served as the theme of this year’s program.

The discussion highlighted the many ways organizations across the community are working to create positive impact and meaningful change.

We are honored to have been included in this important recognition and to be part of a community committed to making a difference.

Natashia brings a strong background in hospitality, customer service, event coordination, and administrative operations.

Her experience across these areas, combined with her strengths in communication, leadership, organization, and team support, make her a valuable addition to our training programs.

In her role, Natashia is focused on creating a positive, structured, and encouraging learning environment for our students.

She is passionate about helping individuals build confidence, develop practical workplace skills, and grow within the hospitality industry.

Sunflower Bakery was proud to participate in the ‘s recent Nonprofit Symposium, bringing together organizations from across the community to connect, collaborate and learn.

As a member of the planning committee, Sunflower played an active role in shaping this year’s event, which featured engaging discussions and speaker panels focused on the most pressing issues facing local non-profits.

The symposium provided a valuable opportunity to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore new ways to better serve our community.
