Fun fact: Caramel doesn't have much of a natural color when mixed into buttercream, so we tint it to achieve that warm, golden shade you see in the shop. What happens when a sleepy baker grabs the yellow and black food dyes instead of yellow and brown ones? This. Yep. So we have a handful of Oscar the Grouch cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream and oreo "trash can lids" in the shop today! We purposefully used our most imperfect chocolate cupcakes for this because sometimes you just have to lean all the way in. 😂

At Carefree Cakery, we value making our customers feel safe and included. That can mean taking extra caution to record orders for people with allergies, tending to the cleanliness of the shop to avoid cross-contact, or just being friendly and attentive when they have questions. We're looking for someone who shares those values and has the ability to clearly and enthusiastically communicate with customers to help make their cake dreams a reality!

Job Summary:
We're seeking a new team member with availability on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings/early afternoons. Their primary role will be store maintenance and customer service.

Responsibilities:
Greet and direct customers
Provide accurate information (product availability, flavors, pricing)
Answer customers’ questions about specific products/services
Ensure displays are fully stocked and stock is properly rotated
Clean assigned areas of the store
Inform customers about discounts and special offers
Answer phone calls and emails
Inventory management
Stay up-to-date with new products/services
Folding boxes
Packaging custom orders

Requirements:
Proven work experience working as a Retail Associate or a similar role
Basic math skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to perform in fast-paced environments
Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive work environment

Job Type: Part-time, starting at $16.00 per hour!

Thanksgiving Week is Here!

Store Hours:

Tuesday, November 25th: Closed for Thanksgiving preparations! Anyone with custom orders scheduled for pickup that day are welcome to come by between 10am and 6pm, but we won't have any products in stock for immediate sale. Call the shop for entry or for any questions!
Wednesday, November 26th: Open from 10am to 6pm! We'll have TONS of cupcakes, mini cupcake samplers, cheesecakes, cakes, pies, and more available for walk-in purchase! This is also the designated pickup day for all Thanksgiving preorders.
Thursday, November 27th through Monday, December 1st: CLOSED for Thanksgiving break!
The holidays are always lots of work for our tiny team, so we close for the weekend following Thanksgiving to spend ample time with our families and to take some much-needed rest. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to coming back fresh in December!

Pie Slice Donation Update:

Thank you to everyone who donated pie slices on our Holiday Preorder Shop! We received a total of 49 pie slice donations this year. There are 8 slices in a pie, so a total of 7 pies will be donated to the Amherst Survival center to help support their efforts to provide delicious food to those in need. Five traditional and two Gluten Free & Vegan pies will be baked fresh and donated on Wednesday Morning and that's all thanks to you. Thank you as always for helping us to Bake the World a Better Place. We love you!
