Before there was a business, there were four kids at my kitchen table telling me which batch was the good one.

Honest in the way only your own kids are, and completely on my side at the same time. That's still my favorite kind of feedback.

This fall a food marketing class at Saint Joseph's University is studying Little Miss Moffitt, specifically the people who receive our cookies as gifts and what that experience is like on their end. Ten years in, I'm still collecting honest opinions.

Thank you to the food marketing class at Saint Joseph's University for having me yesterday.

Thirty-five students, half an hour, and a lot of very good questions.

Little Miss Moffitt is one of two companies their class is studying this fall. It isn't often you get a room full of people looking closely at your business and telling you what they actually think.

I think I'll learn more from them than they will from me.

Executives Diary Magazine ran a piece on me.

They asked how it started, so I ended up talking about my son. He joined the Marines at seventeen. Watching him say yes to something that hard is what gave me the courage to leave my job in 2017 and start this out of my kitchen.

Most of the rest is in there too. The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses room where I worked out what a Hug Disguised as a Cookie™ should be. Why the note goes on the box so it is seen before anything else. Why I encourage you to consider sending client gifts outside of the traditional holiday season.

We brought Hugs Disguised as Cookies™ to the Early Millionaires Business Breakfast on Tuesday, hosted by Michelle Snow at LuLu Country Club.

We also brought a stack of signs that said things like GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE EAT COOKIES and POWERED BY COOKIES. They did more for conversation at that table than anything else we packed.

My Kids' Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies is named after my own four. This was the one they always asked for, so it got the name.

They were my first taste testers and they are still my biggest fans. I got lucky on both counts.
