The Ginger Snapped is owned and operated by Hilary Cohen. Hilary has been a long time resident and employee of Norfolk, MA who has had an affinity for baking and cooking ever since college. Having attended Johnson & Wales University, many of Hilary's dorm mates and friends were in the culinary field and watched how the magic happened in the kitchen, even though she had chosen a different major. roughout the years Hilary has enjoyed baking and cooking as a way to relieve stress from her day job, and to bring smiles to friends and family's faces. "Food is family" is Hilary's philosophy and now wants to bring more smiles to everyone everywhere. Whether it's back to school or holiday cookie platters, custom designed pieces for events, random cookies that you are in search of, and even "after dark" cookies for those bachelor or bachelorette parties she's got you covered. She can make nut free cookies and also gluten free cookies for those who have those particular needs. Due to each order being vastly different, pricing is based on order size, the number of colors mixed for your order, detail on the cookies which actually = time, and whether you wish to pick them up or have them shipped to you. Hear me out 🤣. Today while I was checking out at the grocery store I fell victim to the limited release of Apple Pie A La Mode Oreos.

I mean s**t..... How do you say no! (Side note: as I've already eluded to eating complete garbage while I was rehabbing from brain surgery - I have no business eating these as I'm pretty certain my work pants will need a shoe horn and Vaseline when I go back to my day job 🤣).

I got them home, tucked my willpower far far away and tried one..... JUST ONE I promise. And it was for science - truth!
I needed to know which flavor would compliment these cookies.

So....... Thanks to facebook changing their setting while rolling out a new platform I cannot see who shared what - even if you made it public. So I took ALL the likes, assigned a number to them, and asked Joe to pull from a mug. And the WINNER of the half dozen cookies is Liz Miller Davey!!!!! Send me a message and we can coordinate pick up this week. UPDATE.... The winner has requested we donate these cookies to our town clerk for the poll workers on election day. That is incredibly sweet, and because I think it's amazing, I'm going to throw in a few extra 😊

Are we having fun yet?

I had a blast making these today as my test to see how cookie making and decorating will be post surgery.

So let's celebrate that today went phenomenally and there were no hang ups with making these beauties.

So what are these cookies? They are my vanilla bean dream sugar cookies with butter pecan royal icing 😋. The colorants for the icing are dye free colors however this set does not qualify as dye free due to the edible metalic accents.

And yes..... I have modified my logo for my current hair style post surgery 😆 🤣 😂

Good morning my sweet lovers! Just an update I'm going to be getting back to custom orders shortly! My brain surgeon has given the all clear to return to my main job on September 8th, so I'm pretty sure I can get cookie orders done!

I'm going to make a batch this weekend to see how it goes. Heck, follow along, I might offer them up as a giveaway.

I know some may say "come on , how hard are cookies to make? " there's a lot of dough rolling (which rattles your brain) , and a lot of intricate art/line work (which fatigues your brain) on sugar cookies. Healing from brain surgery made a lot of normal life functions problematic, but I'm now crushing it thanks to physical therapy.

Stay tuned, I'm going to be making a beach theme set 😎 I think.

Oh and this is an accurate representation of how I treated my recovery time 🤣

How lucky are we to have the amazing surgeons we do located in Boston. I'm updating here that my surgery was a success. All those who sent up well wishes it worked, thank you. They were able to move most of the offending nerve irritants without causing permanent damage to the ear canal. The whole team was amazing. I'm home and starting to recoup. Very hard going from a can do it all person to celebrating small strength and coordination victories. Best family ever by my side❤. I have a really cool scar too that I'm sure will inspire some artwork later on. I'll put that photo in the comments as for some it may be too much 😆

Some of you are very smart cookies 🍪 🤣

A few of you knew that I've been seeking answers to some neurological issues I've been having since last year. Some of you knew I was waiting for possible surgery and then some saw a FB story on B Luxes page showing me with a full head of hair, and then not lol. It's no secret, I am heading for brain surgery at MGH/B&W on Monday. I'm very much looking forward to being pain free and able to take my regular load of cookie orders!

In the interim, I do need to take a few weeks to recover so please be patient if I can't take your order or if there is a delayed response returning messages.

Of course I'm not going in without thanking my care teams! My surgeon, the OR team and my ICU recovery team. Oh and a few extra for me 😋
