Good morning, everyone, and welcome to this week's Sunday Recap!
This week was all about celebrating some very special birthdays with cake, cupcakes, and other delicious goodies, while also pulling off the largest bakery stand & treat cart I have done yet. It was a busy, fun week with lots of new items going through the test kitchen, and I am so excited with how everything turned out!
Before anything else, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported this week's cart. Whether you stopped by, shared a post, told a friend, left a kind comment, placed an order, or simply cheered me on, thank you. This was the largest cart I have ever done, and your support means more than I can put into words. Every week I am reminded how lucky I am to have such an incredible community behind Kate's Cocoa Kitchen.
I have received so much good feedback, and I have many more new items to come. The list is ever growing!
My favorite thing I baked this week was definitely the zucchini bread. Zucchini bread has always been a favorite of mine ever since I was a little girl, and this recipe was absolutely amazing. My favorite part was the cinnamon sugar crust. There is just something about fresh zucchini bread baking in the oven that brings back such good memories and makes everything feel so comfortable and homey.
I love shopping at farmers markets, and using fresh zucchini made it even better. If anyone who follows my page sells vegetables or anything homegrown this year, please feel free to reach out to me. I love buying homegrown vegetables, especially local ones.
I also had a blast introducing the cotton candy Alani inspired cake pops. Stay tuned for next week's Alani inspired cake pop flavor. I think you are going to absolutely love it, and it is perfect for the incoming summer!
Cotton candy cake pops are available to purchase at any time (depending on availability, of course).
I also had so much fun introducing the second flavor in my loaded brownie lineup, with Buckeye Brownies being the first. There will be many more flavors coming over the upcoming weeks, including a new one that will hopefully be at the bakery cart next week.
I am keeping an eye on the possibility of Friday for next week, and I will update with the exact day and time on Monday or Tuesday.
On the personal side, my seasonal allergies finally decided to make their annual appearance this week. It was not the most fun part of the week, but thankfully I am starting to feel much better.
Even with the allergies slowing me down a bit, there were still lots of fun moments and lots of fun ingredients to try. For me, relaxation can take the form of trying new recipes and baking things in my kitchen for my husband and I.
It was also a very music filled week for me. I often listen to audiobooks while I work or have TV playing in the background, but this week I mainly listened to music. It was one of those weeks where I needed to stay focused, so I had a great time listening to a very mixed playlist with all different genres and artists. There really is not a lot I do not like to listen to, but my favorite genres are current pop (don't judge me!) and classical music.
My husband unfortunately had to work yesterday, so I planned to spend today relaxing with him, cooking some good food, and doing some meal prep for the week ahead.
Today's small business shoutout actually ties into this week's allergy adventures. I would love to give a shoutout to Dr. Amy Dove. She owns Omorfia Wellness Center and Primary Care and she is absolutely incredible.
I discovered her a few months ago when I was looking for help with sleep and, more recently, allergies. She has been the most amazing, kind doctor. She listens, she cares, and she genuinely wants to help solve problems. Your baker is finally getting good sleep, guys. That is a first for me, ever!
I highly recommend Dr. Dove if anyone in the Nicholasville or greater area is looking for a primary care doctor. She is highly recommended in the area, and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is attentive, compassionate, and truly listens to her patients.
Small businesses are the backbone of any city, and Nicholasville is very lucky to have you, Dr. Dove.
I hope you all have a great week ahead. Stay tuned for a big announcement tonight about something happening very soon!
Thank you for being here, truly. 🤍
