We received such an amazing response to our first post about our apples being ready that we decided to announce that because the apples are ripening so quickly, we’ll open for U Pick tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday, from 11-4. The Zestar, GingerGold, and DandiReds are ready! DandiReds make excellent pink apple sauce.

We’re officially” in season!” Just picked our first batch of Zestar apples and are getting them ready to sell at the Iron Mountain Farmer’s Market this Saturday from eight to noon.
This apple taste similar to Honeycrisp. We’ve been told the heritage is part of HoneyCrisp and as you can see, they look a bit like honey crisp. They are very tasty and juicy and crisp.
We might also have Ginger Gold and Dandi Reds but We’re deciding that on Friday, whether they’re ready to pick.
The Orchard will be open for you pick next week Wednesday, September 6 after 10 o’clock .
We also want you to remind you about our Apple fest coming at the end of September , Saturday, September 26 from 11 to 3.
Fall is such a wonderful time and we’re so glad our apples are ready !

These are photos of two of my granddaughters taken about 10 years apart. They both visited us at the same time last week! We haven’t seen Sophia ( dark hair) for two years and last saw Klara (blonde) about 9 months ago. Our time together was very special and of course they had to go look at their apple trees.

We’ve gotten quite a few inquiries about when our apple crop will be ready. One of our first varieties, Zestar, is still too green and needs about 10 days away from harvesting. With great size, it’s so tempting to pick early, but patience is needed. Can’t rush Mother Nature!

This Saturday, August 22 , we’re adding gluten free muffins ( blueberry and raspberry) to our offerings at the Iron Mountain Farmers Market from 8-12. Apples are still a few weeks away from being ready, and look good!
Mark your calendar for our Applefest which will be held September 26, the last Saturday of September. The days seem to fly so quickly, that event will be here before you know it!

Both Cherie and enjoy baking even past official “ retirement “ age (she’s just joined the club!)
She made Key Like pie in both large (2) and small (4) sizes for the Iron Mountain Farmers Market tomorrow while I whipped the cream to top the pies. I’m trying not to smile at how beautifully my croissants turned out even with a week off!

Just a reminder that we’re back from vacation, energized, and ready for the Iron Mountain Farmers market this Saturday from 8-12.
Our muffins this weekend are blueberry, raspberry cream, and double chocolate zucchini which I’m having for breakfast- delicious way to consume a vegetable!

Love the spirit and friendship of the people we found at the orchard in the mountains! This gentleman, with his clogging shoes and cane, danced most of the afternoon! What a joy to watch

Hal and I went to an historic apple orchard started in 1918 by a railroad to bring apples into town to be processed into baby food. This area has family ties with roots going back to 1780 participating with the OverMountain men who fought the British and helped turn the Revolutionary War in favor of our new nation. We even got to dance to true hill country music!
