To Our Customers and Friends,
I want to let all of you know that, after much thought and consideration, we will be closing our storefront on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
As far back as I can remember, I have dreamed of owning and operating my own pastry shop. I wanted to create wonderful desserts, beautiful custom cakes, and an environment where my customers would feel like part of the family. Anyone who has stopped in on a Saturday or Sunday morning will likely notice that many of the same people are occupying the same tables they’ve been sitting at every week since 2009. Now that’s loyalty! I will forever be indebted to my loyal customers. Whether they’ve been with me since the beginning or have discovered Vida Doce along the way, they are truly like family to me. They have allowed me to create an impressive collection of custom cakes to serve as the centerpieces of their weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. We have shared so many special moments together, too many milestones to count. They have helped me achieve my childhood dream.
But the thing about dreams is, as with all things in life, they change. As we grow and develop, so must our dreams and aspirations. Since opening Vida Doce, a lot has changed for me personally. I became a husband, then a father, and I now have an amazing family that needs me around on the weekends more than I have been in a long time. Vida Doce will live on, just in a different form. We will still be completing all of the custom cake orders that we currently have scheduled and will continue our relationships with our corporate clients. As for our storefront, South End Bakery will be taking over the space in mid-June. We wish them much success and hope that our customers will show them the kind of support we have enjoyed for all these years.
I am so proud of Vida Doce’s legacy. Many friendships have been formed, memories have been made, and delicious food has been eaten. To all of my dedicated employees, past and present, I could not have done this without you. We are forever bonded by this shared experience. We’ve laughed together, cried together, and I think we should be very proud of all that we accomplished together over the last 10 years. There have been good times and bad, but I am grateful for every step of the journey. I’m still not quite sure what the future holds for Vida Doce, but for now, I’m going to take a little time to enjoy the sweet life.
All the best,
Matthew Seguro
