🍋 At Nicholas and Company, our business means more to us than filling orders. It means fostering a where everyone has a seat at the table.
Bringing the community together for our first Seat at Our Table culinary event was an incredible experience. It meant sharing a meal with our customers, supplier partners, team members – our customers’ customers – and three generations of family ownership.
It meant diving deep into our purpose, our and our history. And it meant embracing 'Philotimo' in every sense of the word and sharing that spirit with our community.
to all who made this evening memorable – we are so glad you could join us and can't wait to do it again. OPA! 🥂🌿

Yankee Homecoming Veteran Luncheon
11 Hale St, Newburyport Ma 01951
Starts at Noon!
This is a free event, and each Veteran can bring a guest if they would like.
TOMORROW we will be hosting our annual Veteran Luncheon which will be located at the Hope Community Church, 11 Hale Street, Newburyport, MA on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 12 noon – 2 pm.
We would like the community to extend a special thanks to our luncheon sponsors: Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, Newburyport, SGT Jordan M Shay Memorial Foundation, Institution for Savings, Harbor Creamery, Dianne's Fine Desserts Retail Bakery, and Yankee Homecoming.
The program of the luncheon is as follows: Director of Veterans Services for the City of Newburyport, Kevin Hunt, a Navy Veteran and Vietnam Veteran will be this year's Master of Ceremonies. Joe Byron, President and Founder of Honor Flight New England will be our Special Guest Speaker. The Guest of Honor for Yankee Homecoming's Veteran Luncheon this year will be US Marine veteran Dominic Marcellino.
The Veteran Luncheon has been hosted during Yankee Homecoming for the last 12 years, and was started and managed by Korean War Veteran, Frank Ventura. “Our Veterans are our own National Treasures,” shared local resident and Yankee Homecoming Committee Member Donald Jarvis. “Whether returning recently or during WWII where are eldest Veterans are from – we thank our Veterans for their service and it’s our honor to host this luncheon for them.” This year our guest will enjoy a delicious BBQ Chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, a vegetable, and assorted desserts.
Kevin Hunt is presently the Veterans’ Services Officer for the Cities of Amesbury and Newburyport, and the Towns of Merrimac and Salisbury. He has been a Veterans Services officer for close to fifteen years. He is a 1963 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Communications. After College, Kevin joined the Navy in 1965 and served as the Legal Officer on the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge CVS 33. He spent hours on the carrier’s bridge and qualified to stand watch as the Captain’s replacement when the Captain was not on the bridge. Translated: that meant he drove the aircraft carrier – a unique experience. Besides touring the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, Kevin also served as an instructor at the Navy’s Officer Candidate School on Newport, Rhode Island. He left the Navy in 1969 while the anti-war sentiment in this country was just building. Today, He lives on Plum Island where he has lived since 1973 and has three grown sons and seven grandchildren. Kevin feels his work with veterans is the best job he has ever had.
The keynote speaker this year is Joe Byron from Honor Flight New England. Honor Flight New England is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s most senior veterans. Through generous donations, they transport our heroes to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at their memorials AT NO COST TO THE VETERAN. Top priority is currently given to the WWII Veterans, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. Beginning in the Spring of 2016, Honor Flight New England begun transporting Korean War Veterans, and in 2022 Honor Flight has started transporting Vietnam Veterans.
This year, our Guest of Honor is Dominic Marcellino. A Marine Corps veteran, Dominic was injured in an IED explosion during the Vietnam War, leaving him a triple amputee. Overcoming his disability and returning home, Dominic realized a need for veteran support throughout Massachusetts. Determined to help, Dominic founded Disabled and Limbless Veterans, a nonprofit dedicated to providing meals, clothing and shelter to veterans and their families. Over the past five years Dominic’s organization has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars with 100% of the proceeds benefitting local veterans.
All Veterans are welcomed and are invited to bring one guest with them. This is a free event, and this year the Yankee Homecoming committee will be encouraging Veterans to register in advance. If you are a Veteran and interested in attending, please call and leave a voice message at: 978 - 308 - 9186. A volunteer will be in touch with you and confirm your registration.
Yankee Homecoming is asking all Volunteers to register this year through their website. Volunteers will be able to select from jobs and times that are needed for volunteers. www.yankeehomecoming.com/volunteer
With COVID-19 still amongst us, we are encouraging all attendees and volunteers to please do whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Face masks, and individual hand sanitizer will be available and given out to those who attend. Yankee Homecoming wants everyone to feel safe and enjoy all activities throughout the week.

Celebrating Dave "Gravy" Little after 28 years with the Alden Merrell/ Diane's fine desserts! Also a few OGs who have already retired from the company as well
Mark Quinlan 31 years , Cathy Trafford 38 years
We can’t celebrate just one dessert this month to honor Mother’s Day and the arrival of Spring! We have to keep moms happy all month long with desserts to cover her chocolate and fruity dessert cravings 🌷
Choose your flavor this month, opt for David's Cookies Raspberry Lemon Drop Cake a dessert you don’t have to share with anyone unless you want to! Light & refreshing! Yellow sponge cake layered with lemon mousse and thick raspberry preserves. Then this lovely dessert is finished with a bright lemon glaze and mini white chocolate curls.
Or for the chocolate lovers, we present Dianne's Fine Desserts Chocolate Beyond Reason Cake because is there really such a thing as too much chocolate? Not in our world! A layer of smooth chocolate mousse is added to a chocolate decadence torte, then topped with white chocolate mousse and lightly dusted with cocoa powder all in a chocolate cookie crust.
May the roof above us never fall and may the friends gathered below it never fall out… We all become a wee bit Irish during the month of March! 🍀
Irish Americans and those that enjoy Irish culinary treats indulge in corned beef, cabbage, Guinness stew, Irish soda bread, shepherd’s pie, and colcannon just to name a few options. But we can’t forget Irish cream! This makes not only an excellent cocktail but also is the perfect ingredient for desserts. What could be better than a slice of Dianne's Fine Desserts Irish cream cake, and a piece of Sweet Street chocolate cheesecake??! Nothing in our eyes 🌈😍🍰
