The Newark Free Tree giveaway will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the City of Newark Municipal Building, 220 South Main Street. This event is for Newark residents only. Residents can register for a maximum of two trees per household. Participants will be sent a confirmation email that confirms their reservation. Registrants will be assigned a specific time to pick up the trees during the hours of the event. This information will be sent at a later date along with additional pick up instructions. Trees must be picked up April 30. This is a rain or shine event.
Trees available include Red Maple (20 trees), American Beech (20 trees), Shadblow (20 shrubs),
Red Chokeberry (20 shrubs), Common Witchhazel (15 large shrubs/small trees), White Oak (20 trees), American Dogwood (20 trees), Pignut Hickory (20 trees).
The goal of the tree giveaway is to increase the City's overall tree canopy on residential property to promote a healthier environment and improve the physical appearance and visual character of the built environment. The program is sponsored by the Conservation Advisory Committee (CAC).
