If you’ve talked to me for more than five minutes at any point in the last five years, you’ve probably heard me mention Lorena Seidel M.Ed. /Mentor Mindset 😂
I first met Lorena through our mutual friend Tiere Hessert, founder of Mama Collective and a bit of a Darien powerhouse when it comes to bringing women and mothers together. Tiere also happens to have six kids (though I think she had “only” four at the time 🤣), and I remember asking her how she managed to run such a calm, well-functioning home while staying so zen.
Her answer: Lorena Seidel.
I took two of Lorena’s courses in Tiere’s living room shortly after that, and they genuinely changed the way I think about my kids, conflict, discipline and—probably most importantly—my own mindset in the middle of all of it.
In the years since, Lorena has become a MasterClass educator, was featured in David Yeager 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People, and recently gave a TEDx talk, Why Most Parenting Advice Misses the Point. I’m not sure how much longer we’ll be able to steal her for little mornings like this, which makes me feel incredibly lucky that we get to have her here in Wilton while we can.
The idea for this morning is really simple: come meet Lorena, hear a little about her approach, ask questions, and get a feel for whether one of her courses might be something you’d want to do.
She’ll also give us a taste of what she calls the “nice/nasty dance”—that pendulum where we get too nice because we think that’s gentle parenting, the kids start running the show, we finally lose it and swing hard the other way, feel terrible, soften again…and around we go 😂.
Her approach is about finding the middle: high support AND high standards. Staying connected, understanding what’s underneath the behavior, setting clear boundaries and also being the freaking parent.
Monday, October 5 · 9:30–11:30 AM · Wilton, CT
Refreshments will be served—and yes, Mama Collective alumni, I’ll make us an olive oil cake 😂
Space is limited, so DM me or Lorena if you’d like to come.
