Small business owners beware! I keep getting messages from “people” who send me the same photo of certain cupcakes from my website asking how much 3 dozen or 6 dozen are. Prices are on the website!
After the first one told me the Venmo payment didn’t go through, I got a suspicious email (not from Venmo’s legitimate email address) that wanted me to bill them a higher amount and then reimburse them. Ummm…no. Now I ask for a valid email address and credit card right off the bat. Silence from there on.
My “regular” job involves fighting financial crime. Maybe they should know that.

Wishing all of my friends and customers a very Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful for my customers. But this Thanksgiving I had an order from one (a repeat customer) who did not prepay as usual, but I baked expecting payment would come. After several messages and voicemails, she asked yesterday if I would be around today for pickup. I said I would. It is now 3:30 on Thanksgiving Day, and no further word. So I lost money, and will be giving away 2 sweet potato pies and a dozen red velvet cupcakes decorated for Thanksgiving. This is the first time this has happened to me. And it will be the last.

It is almost Halloween, which means the big "family and friends" holiday gatherings are coming soon. That means it's time to order baked goodies - for your gathering, or to send as a way to share the holidays with those you can't be with.

Shipping is via FedEx, as they are more reliable than USPS, and have rarely been more than a day late. Plus, they deliver on Sunday! The only item that can't be shipped is pies, as they are fragile. But they can be picked up (and possibly delivered) in Manhattan. Everything else - cheesecakes, muffins, cookies, cakes/cupcakes, breads, specialty items - all ship very well, or can be picked up (and possibly delivered) in Manhattan.

As always, I only use fresh ingredients, so please place your order at least 7 to 10 days before you want to receive your order. While the cost of ingredients has gone up quite a bit this year, I have tried to keep my prices where they were, with only a few slightly increased in price.
