The Flying Beet The Flying Beet will be Columbia University's first on-campus, student-run sustainable café and grocery!

The Flying Beet operates as a non-profit coalition that organizes three independent student groups into one space. The café serves beverages, soups, salads, hot meals and baked goods prepared by 4local, a sustainable-food enterprise run by Columbia students, and grilled sandwiches made by FeelGood, a social entrepreneurship committed to ending world hunger. ells produce, bulk foods, and other grocery items. While there is no single definition for “sustainable” food, The Flying Beet supports foods that are organic, local, fair-trade, healthy, minimally packaged, and consciously grown. The Flying Beet hopes to both meet current demand for sustainable foods aa swell as educate the entire student population on the origins and environmental impact of our food resulting from production, processing, transportation, and finally, consumption.
