Sarah and Josh’s wedding cake last Saturday was inspired entirely by the bride’s gown. Our goal was to capture the movement of its embroidered floral and leaf motifs, allowing the confectionery lace to transition from a dense arrangement at the top to a graceful fade down the tiers.

During a typical week in cake production, we line up the completed confections as if they were models on the runway. Each is set against a seamless paper backdrop as the lights glare and the camera clicks away.
But sometimes, we pause to appreciate the natural daylight streaming into our decorating room through seven north-facing windows. For this cake, we wanted a softer and more organic atmosphere, allowing the morning light to reveal every subtle detail and texture just as the eye would experience it in person.
