I love working with 7 month olds! They’re capable, catching on quickly, and honestly... just straight up cute.
Your 7 month old is more aware, more active, and often right on the edge of big milestones like sitting, crawling, or pulling to stand.
So if I had a 7 month old, these are the 3 things I’d prioritize for sleep:
1️⃣ Bring more strategy into your day:
At this age, you can start to move away from obsessing over every wake window and toward a more predictable daily rhythm. Your baby is more durable than you think! Anchor naps when you can, protect bedtime, and start building a schedule that gives your day more structure.
2️⃣ Teach independent sleep before the next milestone hits:
Sitting, crawling, pulling to stand… these milestones are exciting, but they can absolutely disrupt sleep. If your baby already knows how to fall asleep independently, they’ll be in a much better position to work through those new skills without needing you to fully reset sleep every night.
3️⃣ Pick a method you can actually stick with:
There are many ways to teach independent sleep, but the best method is the one you can follow through on consistently. Choose an approach that fits your child, your family, and your own ability to stay steady when things get hard.
At 7 months old, sleep progress is not about perfection. It’s about having a plan, staying consistent, and giving your baby the chance to build foundational sleep skills!
