Nothing better than jam and a sourdough experiment.

I am always looking for new jam vessels and I always have sourdough discard sitting around. Today I tried recipe for sourdough shortcakes. The recipe was meant to for strawberry shortcake but I used as the best jam vessel instead. These shortcakes are a cross between a scone and biscuit. They are flaky and soft with a touch of sweetness. Smeared with apricot jam they are just perfection!

I've always had dreams of growing all the fruits for my jams. This is an unattainable dream in brooklyn BUT this here little fig tree is going strong this year!

We were given an offshoot of John's aunts tree 3 years ago. This is the first year it is producing figs. I really couldn't be more excited.

This tree happens to now be in the chicken run as well....so every day the chickens get a talking to! Eat the figs and you will become dinner 🤣🤣

Looking forward to some fall fig jam fresh from my very own garden!

Plum jam. It was the first jam I ever made. It is my favorite jam.

I'll be honest I don't think plum jam is ever a best seller and I truly don't know why. It is the perfect amount of sweet. It is a little chunky but not too chunky. Pairs well with sweet or savory. What more could you ask for in a jam?

I've been on my sourdough journey for a little over a month and I still haven't made a single loaf of sourdough bread!

I have been trying every discard recipe I can find though. On the menu today was sourdough discard biscuits. Absolutely delicious. Light and fluffy and oh so buttery.

Paired with 4 Berry Jam for the perfect bite.

In the background is my trusty sourdough starter that still doesn't have a name. I think she needs a name though. Any suggestions??
