John Gendusa Bakery

John Gendusa Bakery Originators of the Famous Poor Boy Bread John Gendusa, thinking of his time growing up in Sicily, produced a long uniform loaf of bread for the Martin Bros.

in the late 1920's, baker john gendusa and restaurant owners bennie and clovis martin had to find an economical way to make a sandwich for the striking streetcar workers. From this loaf of bread was born the first Poor Boy sandwich. John Gendusa Bakery has been producing the famous Poor Boy Bread ever since.
