For more than a decade, Louisiana’s coastal lawsuits have been promoted as a solution for coastal restoration.

But after 13 years, what do we have to show for it?

While the lawsuits continue to move through the courts, Louisiana is still waiting for results. Meanwhile, uncertainty continues to impact investment, jobs, and future opportunity across our state.

At some point, Louisiana has to ask a simple question: how much longer should we wait?

If these lawsuits are supposed to help restore Louisiana’s coast, where’s the money?

In this conversation with Moon Griffon, GLAC Executive Director Marc Ehrhardt discusses a question many Louisianians are asking:

After years of coastal litigation, what has actually been delivered for coastal restoration?

As Marc points out, Louisiana’s oil and gas industry remains the largest private investor in coastal restoration efforts, while the lawsuits themselves have yet to produce restoration funding for the coast.

A new $1 million grant will help LSU expand efforts to protect Louisiana’s critical infrastructure, including energy, chemical, agricultural, shipping, and water treatment operations.

The funding will allow LSU’s Cybersecurity Clinic to train more students while providing security assessments and support for industries that play a vital role in Louisiana’s economy.

As Louisiana continues to grow its energy and industrial footprint, investments in workforce development and infrastructure protection help strengthen the foundation that businesses and communities rely on every day.

A new report from the Pelican Institute for Public Policy highlights the growing role out-of-state funding is playing in Louisiana’s energy debate.

According to the report, Louisiana-based anti-oil-and-gas advocacy organizations received at least $115.5 million from out-of-state donors between 2020 and 2025, with the majority of funding coming from California, Washington, D.C., and New York City.

The report raises a larger question: who should shape Louisiana’s energy future—outside donors or the people and communities who live and work here?

Louisiana’s future depends on the choices we make now: do we want a trial lawyer economy or a REAL economy?

In this conversation with Moon Griffon, GLAC Executive Director Marc Ehrhardt discusses the growing impact of coastal lawsuits on Louisiana’s economy, business climate, and long-term investment outlook.

As Marc explains, companies looking to invest want certainty, but endless litigation creates an environment that pushes opportunity elsewhere.

After 13 years of coastal lawsuits, Louisiana is STILL waiting for results.

In a new op-ed, Grow Louisiana Coalition Executive Director Marc Ehrhardt argues the recent unanimous Supreme Court ruling involving Chevron should serve as a turning point for our state, and an opportunity to move beyond years of costly litigation and uncertainty.

Marc discusses how prolonged lawsuits have impacted investment, energy production, and Louisiana’s business climate while raising a larger question: after more than a decade, what have these lawsuits actually delivered for the coast?

Shell's Mars platform has officially become the first offshore asset in U.S. history to produce 1 billion barrels of oil.

Built in Louisiana and operating 130 miles south of New Orleans, Mars helped transform deepwater energy production and continues to support jobs, innovation, and American energy security decades later.

The milestone is another reminder of Louisiana’s critical role in powering the nation and advancing offshore energy innovation.
