A divided nation will never be good. Hate, disrespect and accusations only weaken our country. Which political party one chooses to support is an American freedom of choice. Division has happened, there's no denying it. Kids learn from adults. Political spew and hate is absorbed like a sponge. It's difficult for our kids to understand democracy with a decade of political spew from both sides. Try breaking the adult bully cycle for the sake of our kids and our nation. The posts I've read and comments I've heard from both sides during the last decade are truly embarrassing. Being an American has always been a privilege. Our great privilage of freedom and democracy are being destroyed by the words and actions of our own citizens, not by foreigners. Set a better example, kids are learning life and politics from adult examples. Unite, discuss politics openly, respectfully and informatively. Do better for our country's future, division does not strengthen, it weakens. Vote with your right to vote and respect those who vote differently. That is democracy. Do not let desperate politics destroy America. Unite to protect our democracy from failing. Demand parties respect each other, start at the top. The alternative is not good, not good at all. We have bigger worries than red or blue. How can so many Americans not see what is really happening to America? One party is not better than another party. Both parties are essential for democracy. Yes they have different ideas and agendas but neither side is against America. Stop the hate in front of kids. Teach kids by example how we can always find peaceful solutions so they don't become bullies or worse, killers. Many people I personally know have disappointed me during the last decade with their spiteful, ignorant hate when it comes to politics. It's been hard biting my tongue too. One of the sweetest grandmas I know makes negative political comments every chance she gets. She commented negatively on a female politicians hair just because she belongs to opposite party, no other reason. A sweet old lady who is a big bully on a regular basis yet she doesn't see herself that way. Neither do her friends and family because they do the same as her. You can support your party without being a bully, can't you? You can raise kids/grandkids without political spew, can't you? I sure hope so. The 20 year old that attempted to kill Trump wasn't born a killer or full of hate. He was influenced his entire life by political rhetoric. There are more like him in every city, county and state, because we are an ununited America. Kids in today's technical world have rhetoric shoved in their face daily, unlike the years we grew up in. I was unaware of politics until age 16 when Iran decided to hold forty Americans hostage. I may be wrong but it sure felt like our country was united back then. I don't remember such hate and political spew in those days. Focus on protecting kids from adult politics, undeveloped brains cannot understand. Continue being part of the problem or start being part of the solution.
