Q: Your Professional Baker friend/family member made something for the potluck & you loved it! Why might it be an insult to ask them for the recipe?

A: Often our recipes involve trade secrets which are part of our company's intellectual property. If you loved the treat/dish, a better compliment would be to purchase an order of it for your next event. 😉
