Oh how the animals have been enjoying the warm weather just as much as we have been! From Piggies cuddled in the hay to the chickens running around and scratching for bugs! 🐛 🐓🐷

I know it’s gonna get cold again but if this is what spring is gonna feel like I can’t wait for it to return! 🌸🌿

Bob is loving his new home and loving his new ladies! He enjoyed digging and scratching in the garden with them and staying close by! 🐓🩷

🐣🐥It’s chick season🐣🐥

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted! But here’s an update on what’s happening on our homestead!!🩷

Last night we started 25 beautiful BYM (barn yard mix) chicken eggs in the incubator! The color of these eggs are absolutely incredible! I’m unsure of the hatch rate as we purchased them from someone local! They have a beautiful flock also! In 21 days we will find out what these beautiful eggs give us! 🥚🐣

At the end of last year we lost most of our flock to a mink! Now that we have since fixed the issue we are ready to add to our flock again! Instead of buying chicks from someone else we like the experience of doing it ourselves!

As some might know last year we also lost our beloved rooster Fonzi! He was 12 years old he had been on our homestead for 8 years! He lived a long and very happy life but nothing will ever replace him and how much he loved his ladies and how we never had to worry about him he never bothered us unless he wanted love! 🐓🪽

To some people say they are just animals but to us they are family also! We take care of our animals like they are our children! They are spoiled and we love it and they love life here!

Now let me introduce our new rooster bob!!! He’s a handsome young man and has a beautiful crow! He’s gonna be a great addition to our flock and we’re excited to see how things go with him!

I hope life is treating everyone well and everyone is getting excited about the warm weather like we are here on the farm!🌸🌿🩷

Would anyone be interested in a half a pig?? Please pm me if so

Good morning guys!!!!

🐷❤️🐽I just wanted to post an update about Reba and her babies! Unfortunately the one that was wasn’t as active as the other 2 didn’t make it. She was eating with her sisters yesterday but she was very weak! He’s passed overnight and momma covered her up with straw! Reba is truly so sweet! 🐽❤️🐷

The other 2 girls seems to be doing great! Momma is loving all the attention and she’s loving those sweet girls of hers!! 💕 🐽

Since mommas name is Reba I’m thinking of
Dolly & Jolene
Dolly & faith
For the girls names but they are still in a vanurable part of their lives right now! So we won’t be naming them just yet!! But it never hurts to think of names and hope these girls will pull through! 🙏❤️

We all know that live throws unexpected things at a nice and sometimes it’s truly in a time when we need it the most even mentally!

The pigs I talked about in my earlier post are now here on our homestead as of today! Reba is the female that was pregnant but unfortunately had them over night and was left with other pigs and not kept an eye on which can happen if breeding isnt suprivised then u dont know the date when the sow is due! She had a total of 9 piglets at her old home and has now only came here with 3 of them! All females!!!

I would love some prayers for these babies as the next 72hrs is very critical for them! They were without mom for almost 8 hours and some how they are still with us!!! Thank god! Now Reba and her precious girls are all in a stall and she’s a great mother to them!

We also welcomed Reba’s brother Randy who is a barrow! Our new boar Wilbur is also here with us and our pasturing with our girls!

Here is these precious little girls on our way home!!!

❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️Hey guys!!!!! Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything on here!!! Life’s been busy for sure! As many of u know Fletcher and I got married in October what a beautiful day it was and so many new memories were created!!!! so that was a busy month for me and then I just had surgery 2 weeks ago! I have a 6-8 week recovery period!!!!!

But enough about that stuff…..

We will be having piglets in about 4-5 weeks! I know timing isn’t ideal right now but things happen and it’s ok!!! I’ll still be my best for them and momma! With that being said they would be ready for new homes beginning of march if my math is correct lol! If anyone’s interested please reach out! U know we always love new babies being born here!!! 🐷❤️🐷❤️

💙💙Ginger and Peri are also getting a new friend! We will be adding a new boar to our herd also!!! He’s pure black and so stunning!!!! 💙💙

On a side note we will be welcoming 2 beautiful Quaker parrots into our home in the next couple weeks! We have spent the last 3 months with these beautiful babies and they are finally ready to come home!!! We are so excited! Everyone meet Olive 🫒 and Garlic 🧄

Hey guys!!! As some of u know I posted Friday afternoon that Perri was in active labor and we were getting ready for some piglets!!!…. This is very hard for me to write….

Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and things went in the wrong direction a few hours later! Perri had a hard labor and a hard time delivering the piglets. We stayed wtb her from 12pm friday til 4am saturay morning!!! She delivered 10 piglets over a 24 hour period with all of them being deceased! None of them deformed and none that we to large for her! They all looked healthy! We tried everything to help her before we had our last options at some medicine! We gave her a couple dose of oxytocin so she would continue to push to make sure she got everything out! We are unsure why this happened and it has me left heartbroken! From Saturday at 1pm until yesterday we were unsure if Perri was even gonna be with us at the end! With a 3 day course of antibiotics and some pain meds I’m happy to say she’s starting to eat again and be so vocal with us!!! ( which is how she normally is) so we’re hoping and praying everything from here on out is better and better!

No one really talks about the death of livestock on your homestead! Some of us homesteaders consider our animals as our children and would do anything in our power to help them that even means the last dime of money! Everyone says not to beat yourself up but it truly doesn’t work like that! It’s so hard not to! U think about all the things u shouldn’t have done or what u could’ve done! Mentally this killed me and day by day as she gets better it gets better! My animals are here to be treated like animals they are family and I enjoy having piglets and having others enjoy them also! When Perri was not well herself I beat myself up bad thinking if I never breast her this would’ve of happened and we wouldn’t be here right now! I don’t get animals to intended on hurting them I get animals to give them loving homes and to enjoy them with my family! I know there comes with animal death in livestock but it takes a toll on some of us more than others!

As I sit here at my kitchen table and write this with tears in my eyes….

I wanna say thank u to everyone that reached out to me to see how I was doing and seeing if they could help in anyway! It means so much to me!

I also wanna say thank u to my amazing spouse Fletcher Carter for being by my side and being so supportive! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Also thank u to my wonderful neighbor DebanMel Duguid-May for helping and having the meds we needed and also coming down here countless time and even at 1 or 2 am to help us!!! It truly means so much to me so have such amazing people in my life!❤️❤️❤️❤️
