So this one was a first for me…

My neighbor, who is from Uzbekistan, asked if I could make her a traditional Russian honey cake (Medovik). I had never even heard of it before, let alone made one—but of course I said yes 😄

Let me tell you… this cake is no joke. Multiple thin layers, a cooked honey batter, and a frosting that all comes together in a very specific way. Definitely one of the more elaborate recipes I’ve taken on! And here we sit 3 hours later! 😩

I won’t lie—I have NO idea how it tastes yet because it has to sit in the refrigerator for 24 hours before it’s ready. But she saw it and said it looks exactly how it’s supposed to… so I’m taking that as a win 🙌
