In 1954, with money on loan from his father, Wayne Gott opened his first
store as Gott’s General Store in Bradleyville, located in Southwest Missouri. Gott and his wife, Betty, moved to Salem, MO to open the first Town & Country Supermarket. In May 1962, the store became incorporated as Town & Country Super Market, Inc., and more stores were added over the years. Gott prided himself on providing f
riendly customer service, while offering a wide variety of products and services, all at low prices. In addition, the stores took pride in becoming
integral members of their communities. The Gotts would be joined by their son, Dennis, in the late 1970s. Dennis held a variety of positions, eventually becoming the company’s President & CEO in 1999. With Dennis’ leadership, the company grew to have 21 locations in South-Central Missouri, while keeping the same tradition of providing friendly customer service and low prices that his father started. In 2012, Wayne Gott was inducted in the Missouri Grocers Association Hall of Fame. In 2015, the company built and opened a new 48,000-square-foot store located in Rolla, MO that became one of Wayne and Dennis’ proudest achievements. In July 2016, Dennis passed away unexpectedly at the age of 64. After Dennis’ untimely passing, his daugther, Amber, and her husband, Joe Polizzi, have continued the family business, with Joe assuming the role of President & CEO, after previously serving as Vice President & General Counsel since 2011. In 2018, Dennis Gott was inducted in the Missouri Grocers Association Hall of Fame. Wayne Gott passed away in November 2021 at the age of 90. Joe takes pride in the family business and continues to keep the mission that the Gotts started back in 1962. With the past as a predictor of the future, we can count on ongoing growth and improvement at Town & Country Super Market, Inc. In April 2022, Town & Country opened locations in Laurie and Stover, MO to make a total of 31 locations. Town & Country proudly employs over 1,200 people in 29 Missouri communities and two Arkansas communities.
