It breaks my heart to be writing this post. This is officially our closing announcement. After the flood, a lengthy process with insurance and a long hard battle with the landlord, it has just become too much to keep up with, and Joey’s will sadly be closing its doors for good. We are heartbroken to be going out this way and wish we had the opportunity to properly say goodbye to each and every one of you.
We are forever grateful and blessed to have served such a loving community. Lifelong relationships have come from this adventure, and we will always cherish them.
Running a business is not for the weak. I poured a lot of sweat and tears into this place. While it came with stress and headaches more often than not, it also brought beautiful connections and the opportunity to make this community smile. A piece of me will always stay with this business. My kids were raised in this shop—it’s all they’ve ever known. I’ve also watched so many of your children grow up over the years, from tykes to teens. We’ve catered weddings, retirements, fundraisers, and everything in between. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives, your celebrations, and your milestones.
Thank you to my amazing staff over the years. We were blessed with some of Charleston’s finest—employees who felt like family. That alone made this adventure worth it. A special shoutout to Mama Dee, who many of you knew as the donut lady. She held down the front lines while I dealt with the behind-the-scenes chaos. Thank you to my children, who put in a lot of hours with me and stood by my side when I had no other options. And another heartfelt thank you to my special person for supporting me through this tough time and believing in my dreams.
I’m still processing this. I will miss this chapter of my life more than I can explain—but on to the next. Love to you all, and thank you from the very bottom of my heart for the support you have given us.
