This post will hopefully be shorter than all the thoughts swirling around in my head right now, but we shall see.
First, before anything else, I'd like to extend my most heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who have allowed us to provide for your most special occasions. We have loved meeting everyone who's walked into our store to grab treats, see what we make, or just chat. It's truly made our day each time.
At this time, our business is closed. With the rising cost of ingredients and business services, it isn't feasible to stay open. The juice just ain't worth the squeeze. In 4 short years in that space, the cost of my staple ingredients have risen exponentially, and while I didn't mind cutting into my profits because I genuinely loved doing what I do, it also meant that the costs have risen for my customers as well. That means they didn't come in as often for a cookie or weren't ordering cakes because money is tight.
I get it. As a single mom who gets no help financially, this business is my lifeblood to support my son. I have built it from the ground up with money I saved, materials I gathered over the years, and the determination that I could do it. No loans. No financing. No bailouts.
While I do feel heavy hearted about closing, I am confident that there are bigger and better things in store for me and my boy. Maybe in the future, when things even out and the world is less unsteady (praying!!!) I can reopen under a new business model.
For now, though, I'm going to enjoy watching my child grow and thrive, look back on the fond memories of the cakes I was able to make, and the laughs I shared with you all.
Thank you for the support throughout not just my 4 years with a brick and mortar store front, but the 5 years before that where I met you at the post office to hand off my creations. I've learned MANY names and remembered many faces. I hope that when we see each other out, you'll say hello if I don't first π
Be blessed today and always, do something small and kind for people you cross, support your small businesses because we're all struggling right now, and please know that I wouldn't change this course for anything in the world because it meant I got to meet so many amazing people.
Thank you, thank, you, thank you! Make life sweet any way you can π
