After leaving I stayed connected with them. Baking for different events and also enjoying just being there. I went to a Gaja wine dinner in 2019. I sat next to Joseph Cetrulo, who owned La Campagna in Morristown from 1995-2012 and who recently opened in Headquarters plaza. I remember him talking about how he was looking forward to opening up a new restaurant in Morristown. He couldn’t disclose where but he was looking forward to being back in town. He was an interesting man and liked to hunt with bow and arrow. I think he said during the season he hunts in his backyard- but that could have been the Gaja talking. We were guests along with many including the owners of . I think all of us who were there, were there to celebrate the excellent craftsmanship of Gaja Wines. This is definitely a special interest, It’s like an art form to me. Jockey Hollow was the perfect place to feature this celebrated 5th generation wine made in Barbaresco. I’m going to miss this place.

I have so many stories about
Many of you know already, but I was one of the original pastry chefs there. After The Artist Baker closed for the day I would go to JHBK at night and work in the pastry kitchen (Erica worked pastry during the day)
Meeting Bennet Haynes and his brother Phil was a highlight.
Phil and Bennet had Ralston Farms and worked with Chris Cannon from the beginning. Both wanted to work with each other and both had a deep interest in local food communities. Ralston had expanded their farm to more acreage in Hopewell, New Jersey and was ready to produce. The summer of 2014, JHBK and was not open to capacity and Ralston’s farm had a bumper of a tomato season. I mean BUMPER. All their tomatoes especially the heirloom where big, juicy and delicious. We were one of the lucky recipients of those tomatoes at an unbelievable price. We took what ever we could get. We canned them, made sandwiches and made a tomato pie that our customers still talk about. Each pie used about 8 lbs of heirloom tomatoes that were seasoned and roasted. We made so many tomato pies that summer. My oven was just sweating out the seams from all the tomato moisture. It was such a great time that we were able to seize and share.
JHBK came into full swing the next year and I was never able to get tomatoes like that again- at the price.

🥂

I had such admiration for the work Bennet and Phil were doing. I took the staff out to the farm to pick strawberries one time. The picture is of Bennet and I.

Tomorrow, Saturday is the last day we are open before our annual winter break.
Thank you to all our customers who make our days.
After 16 years we have seen our customer’s children grow up, customers marry, and marry again, we see them as new grandparents, just starting their families and some just being.
We are thankful to be in your lives and you to be in ours.
Happy New Year dear customers.
May 2025 be a great year for you.
The shop reopens January 14th, 2025✨
