An anniversary cake for a legendary couple celebrating a legendary milestone. 63 years of marriage, married in 1963. They chose carrot cake, with cream cheese frosting. 🥕 🧡 🥕

The first apple cake of the season! Wolff brought me some honey crisps and you know what had to happen! Fresh milled spelt flour, notes of cardamom and fresh grated nutmeg made a rustic, hearty cake. Topped with a brown butter glaze, that while it was delicious, didn’t turn out quite like I’d dreamed. 🥴 A cake like this is for breakfast, coffee, dessert. It’s way better for you than donuts.
(Baked in the vintage star Bundt pan, which is not evident, because of the glaze blooper.)

The dessert table at Clark and Sharilee’s Minnesota reception. We had a dinner for church family, and friends and family from away that couldn’t make it to the wedding. It was held at the Starbuck community building, and the newlyweds reside in Starbuck! I had so much fun planning it. The chocolate cookies are a special family favorite and yes, by the name, have been served at our weddings, funerals, and Christmas. My favorite memory of them though? Waking up from a nap with Grandma, and she’d take me to her freezer and we’d eat a cold chocolate cookies before getting back to work.
But guess which dessert was the most popular by far?

Nutella Brownies (not on a stick) at the market today. Yesterday I taught Sawyer to make them and there’s a lot of fun and a few baker’s secrets in this batch! What’s not to love about a five pound container of Nutella and melted butter?
