It has been well over a year since Old Mimosa closed. We didn’t anticipate writing another post, however we feel the need to share some very sad news with our former customers.
Catie, our beloved friend & pastry chef, passed away unexpectedly nearly two weeks ago. It is so very hard to grasp that she is no longer here on earth with us & still doesn’t even seem real. We know that so many of you came to love Catie here at the store, and some of you knew her from her days at Root & Vine.
Catie was truly a one-of-a-kind “recipe,” with a dash or two of quirkiness & childlike goofiness, mixed well into a heart of gold. It’s no wonder that people were drawn to her or that she had so many dear & loving friends.
Catie was loyal & giving to those in her life. In the last weeks before her death, she was rescuing a stray cat, giving it needed medical attention, & eventually finding it a good home. Likewise, she put her heart & soul into her baking, which was likely what made her delicacies so spectacular. She loved baking for family & friends, making their favorites - like her dad’s Boston cream pie.
We will always keep Catie close in our hearts. We will think of her when we see anything to do with cats, bats, or Harry Potter, when we see a little lime green “Matchbox” car zipping down the highway, or when we bite into a pastry that doesn’t quite measure up.
You were the coolest, cheese-loving muggle we’ll ever know, & we will always love & remember you, Catie. God has always loved you & He loves you still. ✝️❤️✝️
