Cake Picnic SF is just over two weeks away and along with it being a delicious celebration of cake, I’ll be attending with my wonderful mother and we’re celebrating my birthday - I can’t wait! Now the tough part…what type of cake to bring? In October for my first in-person Cake Picnic I made this dark chocolate raspberry cake and I also made a pumpkin spice cake with salted caramel buttercream. What style and flavor should I make this time? Anyone else coming to in San Francisco? 🤚

It’s hard to believe I made it this far into adulthood without making, or even tasting, a pumpkin roll! Thankfully this recipe from , with soft cake and tangy cream cheese frosting, was easy to follow and delicious. My tip is to chill briefly in the freezer before cutting for clean, even slices. I still can’t believe I’ve been missing out all this time!

Last month I participated in a cake lover’s extravaganza at the San Francisco event at Treasure Island and this scrumptious cake was one of my offerings. Is it wrong for me to admit that these layers of tender pumpkin cake, caramel, and salted caramel buttercream made for my favorite slice of the day? I wish I had grabbed a cross section picture, but I was too busy racing for more slices of beautiful cakes!

The pumpkin cake recipe is from .bakes and is on sale on her site this month. It is truly delicious!

The salted caramel buttercream starts with a base of naturally flavored powdered sugar from , and I stocked up this season because last year I ran out and it was tragic!

More cakes are yet to come from my day with , including my chocolate raspberry cake, but that post is for another day.
