Ashley Griffith - Porch Light Real Estate reached out and asked us if we could take her countertop out of her old house and make a table for her porch. The countertop was made out of beautiful Maple, which had a lot of character.

Ashley picked the Maple legs from a vendor and we were able to make the rest of the table (the top, the apron, and the supports) from her “throw away” lumber.

We recently made outdoor furniture from some large Cedar columns that were a little rotten at the base.

If you have something that may be worth giving another life, send us an email! It’s a lot of fun seeing something that may be discarded transformed!

We won’t be at Longleaf much until Tuesday as we move out of the home we’ve lived in for 22 years!🥹

So, no time for new posts this week, but I discovered Chat GPT (finally) and asked it to put some of our tables in beautiful settings without changing the tables!

Honestly, a lot of our customers have more beautiful settings but sometimes we forget to take pictures!

We hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend and we pray for those who’ve have lost loved ones in defense of our great country!

We normally leave the cabinetry to the cabinet companies and stick to furniture, but when a VIP like Charla Jordan Baumgardner, owner of our neighboring business, Vivian Onay, asked for a wall unit for her son’s Man Cave, we had to oblige.

Charla sent us an inspiration photo and we took it from there, creating a 15’ wall unit, with a solid 15’ desktop that spans between the lower and upper cabinets.

Charla says that the store will hopefully reopen in the fall, and for us, it’s not a moment too soon! Everyone there is so helpful, and always steers me in the right direction when I’m shopping for Sylvia!

Last-minute Mother’s Day gift, surprise date night…we have it just for you:) .

We had to reschedule some couples to another date night. If you're interested in a fun time building memories, May 16th is open, starting at 5:30 pm, with dinner for two included. Date night isn’t only for couples, but we have plenty of spots for sons and daughters to bring a parent, or best friends to come too. If you're stumped for a memory-filled Mother’s Day gift, I highly recommend this event. We love hosting and sharing what we love to do!

If you’ve come by the shop to find that no one is here the past few weeks it’s because we have been welcoming two more Thompson grandsons into the world! One was born on April 15th and the other was born on April 30th.

We may be a couple of weeks longer on custom orders, since we will be traveling to Birmingham and Atlanta to hold, talk to, sing to, and enjoy these little men!

Also, fair warning, if you’re in the showroom and the little man in the third picture, helping his daddy build cabinets, FaceTimes Pops, then you’ll have to excuse me for a few minutes!

What are we leaving the next generation?

A few months after we opened for business years ago, a guy came in and said he had some lumber that his grandfather had milled and he wanted a table. After a bunch of calls and texts, we figured out the style, and John brought the lumber to the shop. It was very thick Ash. We built he and his wife a large, live edge table with double pedestals.

When John picked the table up, we started talking and realized that we went to the same elementary school (a couple hours west of here 😉) and were a year apart. A friendship was born.

Several months ago John began bringing us Walnut from the old lumber and we built him a large outdoor table to house his Big Green Egg and a grill.

I’m sure the grandfather had no idea, over 40 years ago, while he was milling the lumber that he would never get to use, would one day help define a beautiful Lake Martin home on the inside and out.

We are so blessed to be a part of stories like this! God is good!

When a fantastic customer asks for a massive 80” executive desk, to match the existing bookcases, we say “no problem”! And you can’t just walk this large desk down the hall, it had to be assembled in the room.

The bookcases were built by Grace Fabrications LLC, and David Till, who we love to work with, provided us the information to match the doors and stain color.

Bring us a challenge! No matter the size!

Here’s Erin staging a 9 foot Maple table that we just dropped off at Inline Lighting showroom in Montgomery. It’s taking the place of another of our tables that was sold yesterday to a local business.

This table was custom built for someone on Lake Martin, but they realized after a few months that they needed a bigger table! It is finished in a To***co stain and has a thick top. Someone can get a great deal on this table! Just check with Erin, Candace, Allison, or one of the other amazing salespeople at Inline!

We LOVE our partnership with Inline!
