Hey Montclair and beyond! Excited to share some news and welcoming this new chapter in our baking life! You may not know this but I’m a huge fan of coton candy and was always fascinated by the way sugar can transform into something beautiful like that.
So I’m happy to announce that starting tomorrow we will be adding artisan cotton candy (also know as father’s beard in French) to our shop! We are taking it to the next level by infusing these fluffy, light as a cloud delicacies with our own best sellers such as croissants, chocolate eclairs and of course baguettes! So come on by tomorrow to have a taste!

Year 6 of feeding this guy on a daily basis so he can feed us in return. Owning a business has its ups and downs (like the fact that our whole walk-in freezer compressor at the shop is kaput since yesterday and has to be replaced altogether). So even though some days can be really, really hard, not just on us but on our loved ones, we try to make the best of it. I’m thankful for my family and their endless support, love and encouragement.
So we’re gonna be short on some desserts for a few days but we will keep baking on. We’re happy and honored by your support and kindness for all these years. It is really amazing sometimes to just think of the connections made and being part of a community. Great feeling that keeps us going.

Traditionally eaten during Epiphany (or the arrival of the three Kings), the galette des rois is a cake made out of puff pastry dough and a mixture of pastry and almond cream called frangipane. There’s also a little trinket (or fève) which is placed inside the cake and whoever gets it is to wear a crown and be king or queen for the day. Equally important is the choice of beverage and I cannot recommend enough some good Normandy apple cider as well as Basque (yes it’s really good). Now that the newly arrived folks are aware of the tradition (and thanks to our loyal followers since day 1, you know who you are), please head on over to our website and get yourself one! Our galettes are so good, it was ranked #1 in the whole world by a 7 year old last year. We could not be prouder than that! We will also have them for walk-ins évidemment. So, what are you waiting for?

French Christmas would not be one without le pain d’épices! It’s ancestor, the honey bread, came from Egypt and along the many beautiful things that came from that part of the world, the German and later on French monks got ahold of the recipe (thank you crusaders, kinda) and started producing what we know today as gingerbread. Delicious on its own, one can use it for tea time or breakfast with some hearty jam. Or a slice of foie gras and fig jam on top. But it’s up to you really!
