Bonjour from France where the familyâs taking a well deserved break! Not quite a break from baking however as Le French Dad is learning how to make the regional specialty aka la pogne with a retired baker (well we donât really retire). The beauty of passing on the know how and making people happy.

Iâb case youâre wondering why our pain au chocolat has that distinctive, rich and smooth taste (ie doesnât taste like ultra refined and sweet chocolate) itâs because we use 48% dark chocolate bâtons.
Pardon our appearance, we moved our bread ovens and will be cleaning up the store tomorrow, Wednesday, and reopen on Thursday June 23.
Fear not we are still baking bread in Montclair and will continue rolling pastries on Church Street. Over the summer, our store is going to get a well-deserved (re)fresh look. Thank you for your continued support and we canât wait for whatâs next!

Dads, we hope you enjoyed your 6-packs this morning! Grateful to have la French mom in to take care of the preorders (this was just the first wave) and run the craziness that ensued while I was out supporting our son in a soccer tournament!
Whoâs âŹď¸ for a sandwich today? Weâve got our classics such as jambon beurre, apple/turkey/brie with tarragon mayo, pesto/mozzarella/tomato and the Basque with Bayonne ham, ossau iraty sheep cheese and a red pepper and espelette (my favorite).

Better late than never as the saying goes! After four years (of blood sweat and tears but thatâs not relevant here), we are finally getting some merch thanks to the tireless French Mom (and our beautiful model if you swipe right)! First up is this royalty worthy tote, perfect for hauling your treasured goods from the bakery to your home. We wanted something light and pun worthy hence the design (a great one we might add by ).
And because of the new plastic ban laws starting today, you will be receiving a 2% discount on any item if you bring your tote with you next time.
Ok folks near and far! As we have been actively recruiting for the past couple of months, we are finally able to extend our operating hours!
See, doing what we do takes time, patience and a lot of labor. Choosing the right people to not only bake but also prepare your food and greet you is not an easy endeavor. We need a day or two to recharge, be with our loved ones, run that laundry and take care of the house. We may not have the perks that bigger or prettier places do but we share a common goal, serving our community and making your day better.
Growing local talent, using locally sourced ingredients and produce, teaming up with local partners and organizations to collaborate and help in any way we can. Think warm spice brioche bun studded with soaked raisins and candies fruits. We make our cross with a cinnamon glaze for that distinctive taste. Tarte fine aux pommes aka one of my favorite tarts (to eat). Flaky, buttery puff pastry dough base, vanilla crème pâtissière and Fuji apples slightly caramelized with brown sugar. Light yet rich, sweet but not overwhelming and so on. Great work from our BOH team.

While we are a continent and a half away, we are deeply concerned about whatâs happening in Ukraine. As a kid from Sarajevo, Iâve seen the same type of madness happen some 30 years ago.

Hi everyone near and far! Some four years ago, I took over a spot on Church street (and a huge leap of faith) and been at it ever since. Although weâve seen some changes, the vision is and will always be the same, be that community boulangerie. I take extreme pride in what I do and will continue to do so. Sure, we might not have the fanciest place on earth but what matters to me, to us, is you. The everyday celebrity whose day we make a little better. The out of towner who drives two hours to load up on bread and viennoiserie for a week. The spontaneous salesperson who canât stop raving about our stuff to their family or colleagues. The partners who get our baked goods and complement with their respective craft. Our team makes it happen, no matter what. You get it. You get why and what we do. And for that and that alone, itâs worth putting in the work.
