As many of you know Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Is apart of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. With that being said Monday October 12, 2026 between 5pm to 8pm the is Greater Monroe Area NPHC is having our 1st Pizza Pig Out with Johnnys.

In order for us to make a profit for this fundraiser, customers MUST place their order inside Johnnys not the drive thru. All the information you need is on the flyer below. Can’t wait to see you all there.

Eta Lambda Sigma Monroe Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. stands with those whose lives have been lost, those who survived this fight and those whose going through it.

Please know that Domestic Violence includes emotional, psychological, financial, and digital abuse. It’s not always physical.

This month, we encourage our communities to turn awareness into action:

We want to recognize one of our very own Soror Nelson. Soror Nelson is a 6th Grade Science and Social Studies teacher at Carver Elementary. She’s also a Counselor/Therapist. Among all of those great things Dr. Nelson is also an Executive Board Member for our chapter as the 2026-2028 First Anti-Basileus. Soror Nelson we appreciate all you do. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, we honor those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer, including our beloved Soror Hattie McDaniel, who passed away from breast cancer in 1952 at the age of 57.

In her honor and memory, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. established the Hattie McDaniel Cancer Awareness and Health Program. The program was created to promote education, encourage early detection of breast, prostate, ovarian, colon, and other cancers, and support research focused on cancer prevention.

Today, this work has evolved into the Women’s Wellness Initiative, empowering chapters to address health issues that disproportionately impact women, particularly women of color.

We celebrate breast cancer survivors and honor their strength while working diligently to raise awareness and help create a future with more survivors.
