06/24/2025
I want to share some news that’s been incredibly hard to come to terms with:
Sky River Bakery will be closing its doors on Sunday July 13th, 2025.
This decision hasn’t come easy, but the challenges of running a small bakery in today’s economy have caught up to us.
As an all-from-scratch bakery, staying afloat in today’s economy hasn’t been easy. Over the past three years, the cost of our key ingredients has continued to rise sharply (looking at you eggs) and steadily — making it harder and harder to keep up without passing those costs on to you. We’ve done our best to absorb as much as we could, but the reality of running a small business like this has become increasingly difficult.
I’ve never expected myself to be a business owner, let alone being a part of many of your lives.
For the past five years, I’ve watched many of you grow — from first steps to first dances, from school mornings to graduation celebrations. I’ve seen little ones who once peeked over the counter now walk in towering over me, making me feel both old and incredibly lucky. It’s been a beautiful reminder of how quickly time passes and how meaningful everyday moments can be.
Whether you stopped by for a morning coffee, a slice of banana bread, a daily biscuit or weekly cookie you’ve been a part of my routine for the past years — and I’ll never forget that. Sky River has been more than just a bakery. It’s been a safe space for everyone, a home for laughter, conversations, celebrations, and comfort.
The bakery has been listed for sale for awhile now (it still is) If you or someone you know is interested in continuing the legacy of Sky River bakery, please reach out to me at [email protected]
Between now and July 13th, please come by. Let’s share a few more stories, a few more pastries, and give this little bakery the sendoff it deserves.
With heartfelt thanks,
Rick
