I made a batch of Mother's Day Macarons...1/2 with Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla cream filling & 1/2 with a caramel filling....
When I was working.... I had 3 very simple rules... 1) no choking 2) no heart attacks & 3) no going into labor on any of my shifts! Annette broke this rule and 20+ years later, I got to bake the cupcakes for the result of her son's engagement party!!
This... is why I do what I do!! This young lady was the care provider for her older sister...and then did her hair for her funeral. I felt God's love when I delivered this cake.... and I'm so happy I was able to put a smile this beautiful, strong young woman's face.

Some plated desserts I've been working on.
My Granddaughter let me "experiment" with her birthday cake this year... this is the most elegant cake I've ever made & I'm proud of myself! It's a dark chocolate sponge... with a thin layer of tempered chocolate & a layer of chocolate mousse topped with crushed oreo cookies & 1 more thin layer of tempered chocolate. Then the whole cake is frosted with a whipped chocolate ganache & (my glowing success) a beautiful chocolate mirror glaze and garnished with a gorgeous tempered chocolate flower. It was a chocolate success!!!
Some goodies I've made for Culinary Arts...fresh fruit tart with naval orange supremes, blackberries, blueberries & mandarins- creme brulee, blueberry pie, biscuits & blueberry muffins.... yum
I'd say it was a successful experience today @ Abundant Grace Community Church ... there were some be a utiful quilts!!! I sold almost all my goodies in one day (they'll have more tomorrow... but I won't be there), met some very interesting people, accepted a challenge to learn gluten free recipes for a lovely young mom who's 7 year old lives on a gluten free diet, made a respectable amount of money for the church & generally had a good time @!
Well... 7 boxes of 5 petit macarons, 7 boxes of 3 big macarons, 13 bags of 4 big chocolate chip cookies, 10 bags of 2oz Pie-Less Pecans, 16 bags of Cracker Candy, 27 boxes of 4 filled & topped cupcakes, 6 boxes of Honey Jalepeno Cornbread, label & allergen labels, boxed or bagged, more business cards printed, 2 sets of menus & registry.... I have a substantial amount of BEAUTIFUL meringue just SCREAMING at me to get turned into cookie kisses or marshmallows ... I don't know what to do!! I'm torn!!! I'll get pretty pictures of my goodies tomorrow after I get set up!!
I was blessed with a Call To Action with Icing Smiles.... to help Miss Arianna celebrate her 8th birthday!! She wanted a Flamingo Pool Party.... I was blessed to do this cake for such a brave, beautiful little girl!!

I made cupcakes w/ the "extra" batter & frosting from the Flamingo cake.... tested a new frosting tip...& filled them w/ dulce de leche.... peace offering for my DIL & Son....😎

My biggest project yet!! Chocolate and vanilla layered sheet cakes with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream.... 7 tier display cake decorated with fondant ( the event was outside .... toooo hot for "real cake" to survive more th an hour ) .... then a tie-dyed vanilla bean cake with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream and white chocolate rainbow ganache on a pop up surprise cake stand that sprayed sparkly sprinkles when the cylander with a gift popped up though the center of the cake!! What fun.... and I'M DONE!!!
I want yo give special thanks to Carolina Grajeda (and her entire staff) at Bake a Cake in Mission! They were all so patient & helpful with me !! They have a printer for edible images on sugar paper... just email the image to them & voila! I will be using that cool (and very reasonably priced) tool often! My Sous Chefs (otherwise known as my Granddaughters) and I LOVE going to the "cake store" for supplies and cool "toys".

P. F. Chang's McAllen for their employee appreciation " Vibe Fest".... I spent the day in "dim sum" making itty bitty "crab wontons" & sugar work "fortune cookies"....
Chocolate drip cake!
Ice cream cakes are my new FAVORITE thing!! Oreo cookie crust, Ben & Jerry's Chocolate therapy ice cream, Klondike ice cream sandwich, MORE Ben & Jerry's and topped with Oreo cookie crust..... can you say "YUM"??
I volunteer for my church's Compassion (food) ministry.... I'm always so happy to prepare a meal for families (cooking is how I love on people).... some in good circumstances... some in sad.... I always make a cake for each family (because baking is loving)... French vanilla w/ vanilla swiss meringue buttercream... with a sparkly "unicorn sprinkles" (designed by my 5 yr old Granddaughter) surprise in the center.... I want to give this family lots-0-love....
