There’s something special about the front of our bakery. From our familiar storefront to our freshly painted blue door (a shade we’ve affectionately named 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 💙), it’s a little piece of Mishawaka history with a fresh pop of color!

And now you can wear it!

Our vintage-inspired West End Bakery tees feature a sketch of our beloved storefront, celebrating nearly 100 years of sweet traditions.

🛍️ 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀! We now have a selection of colors and sizes available right in the bakery! Looking for a different color or size? You can custom order online, too.

🎨 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟

Every Sunday, we’re taking a little trip through Mishawaka’s history, exploring the 10 local landmarks featured in our new mural at West End Bakery!

🌬️ 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 #𝟭: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗟

Did you know Mishawaka once manufactured windmills that were shipped around the world? 🌎

In 1869, Palmer C. Perkins patented his wooden windmill design. By 1873, he and his twin brother, Pardon, had established the Perkins Wind Mill & Ax Company right here in Mishawaka!

𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀:

⚙️ The company originally made axes before windmills became its specialty.

🌎 Perkins windmills were sold throughout the United States and internationally.

💨 These beautifully decorated wooden windmills used wind power to pump water for farms and communities long before rural electricity became common.

📍 You can still see a restored Perkins windmill at West Front Street and North Spring Street in downtown Mishawaka, just a few hundred feet from where it was originally manufactured!

❤️ Our mural celebrates the buildings, businesses, and landmarks that helped shape the city we call home.

𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 as we uncover the history behind another familiar Mishawaka landmark!
