Town of Mineral The Town of Mineral is the gateway to beautiful Lake Anna and is strategically located in central Louisa County.

Mineral is the crossroads between three major cities, Richmond, Fredericksburg and Charlottesville and just four miles from the Louisa County Airport/ Freeman Field. There are numerous businesses located within Mineral, including a post office, a DMV Select, restaurants, a bakery, barber shop, auto supply / repair shops, filling stations and a grocery. Mineral is easily visited via I-64 and US 522

or I-64 and VA 208. Demographics
As of the 2000 United States census, there were 424 people, 172 households, and 115 families residing in the town. Each family and business has recognized the beauty of this area, and chosen to make their life in this unspoiled home town. In 2008, the Town Council applied for and was accepted as an affiliate of The Virginia Main Street Program. Mineral is listed on the Virginia Landmark Register and the National Historic Register. History of Mineral
Mineral was originally known as Tolersville, but adopted its current name when it incorporated in 1902 as a result of the mining industry that supported the community. It was the center of gold mining activity in Louisa County and during its heyday there were no fewer than fifteen gold mines located within two miles of the town. A zinc and lead mine also operated in the area into the 1970s. The C&O Depot still stands at the intersection of 1st street and 522 in Mineral.
