Today is a hard one.
When we first walked into Old Boys, we didn’t have a business plan, a fancy presentation, or even a clue what we were doing. We basically showed up carrying what can only be described as a suspiciously heavy trash bag full of every sourdough product we had ever made and said, “Hi… want to try some sourdough bread?”
Looking back, it sounds completely ridiculous.
But instead of wondering why two people were standing in their shop with a trash bag full of baked goods, they welcomed us in, gave us a chance, and changed the course of our business forever.
From that moment on, Old Boys never treated us like a vendor. They treated us like family.
They made room for us when they didn’t have to. They cheered us on when we were still figuring things out. They celebrated our wins, encouraged us through the hard days, and became such an important part of the Bigfoot story that it’s impossible to imagine our journey without them.
What started as a business relationship became something so much bigger. They became the family we never knew we needed and never would have chosen for ourselves because somehow we got lucky enough to have them choose us.
And Lindsey… where do I even begin?
Somewhere along the way, she became so much more than a business partner or friend. She became family. She’s become one of my best friends, an aunt to my kids, an aunt to my dogs, the person I can call when life feels heavy, the person who celebrates the good days just as hard as she helps carry the hard ones. She’s been a safe place, a sounding board, a cheerleader, and one of the biggest blessings this business has ever brought into our lives.
The truth is, Bigfoot Sourdough would not be what it is today without Old Boys. Not just because they sold our bread, but because they believed in us. They stood beside us. They opened their doors, their hearts, and their lives to us.
There are people who open businesses, and then there are people who build communities, friendships, and families. Old Boys did all three.
As they close this chapter, we just want them to know how deeply grateful we are. For every shelf they cleared, every loaf they sold, every customer they introduced us to, every laugh, every hug, every conversation, every kind word, and every chance they took on us when nobody knew who we were.
To everyone at Old Boys: thank you for believing in us when all we had was a dream, a whole lot of sourdough, and apparently a trash bag full of bread.
We love you. We are proud to call you family. And no matter where this next chapter takes all of us, you’ll always be part of the Bigfoot story.
With all our love,
April, Bailey, Doug,Steven, Shelby, Ace and Ollie
