This is my Lily - my miracle! 5 weeks post brain surgery - WHAT?? From agonizing pain and left side paralysis to THIS! Lily is a rockstar but she couldn’t do this alone! What an amazing staff at Spaulding Rehab! But more importantly - she has THE most incredible parents who have never left her side and are - what I believe to be the catalyst behind this amazing progress! 🧡🧡

Just wanted to share the best update on Lily!! Cried the happiest tears ever! Thank you everyone for the continued prayers! Next stop Boston!! This kid is an inspiration to me - she’s the bravest person I know and so proud to call her my granddaughter!!

I will be back in the bakery this week. I am trying to catch up on all emails and order requests tomorrow. My heart and mind is and will be constantly on Lily and I will get back out there as soon as I can!
But I need to take a minute to thank you ALL for the prayers, kind words and encouragement! What a blessing you all are! For those who reached out via phone, text or email - meant the world to me!! 🧡🧡🧡

Lily update from my daughter…
She has the best daddy 🥹

Yesterday was tough. Tapered off pain meds a little too soon plus getting her out of bed resulted in the return of the scary head pain that had everyone concerned.

Chris refused to leave her side from 8pm until he could talk to her doctors at 9:30am. We shared our concerns, made our suggestions, and agreed on a more aggressive pain management regiment today.

Today was better! She ate a little, reported a lower pain number, survived another PT/OT beating, and got her hair combed and braided 🥰

Chris reads her to sleep just like we used to, what feels like, ages ago.

The reality of just how long this recovery is going to be is settling in. We had the discussion of what rehab will look like, but that’s a post for another day 🥹 Tonight we are grateful for less pain and the soothing sounds of story time with Chris!

👏Lily Update👏 (from her mom - my daughter)

Another big day, but in the best way!!

A detail I left out (get it 🤪) from the beginning was exactly what were the stroke like symptoms I recognized at the house Saturday night.

Lily has had left side paralysis since this nightmare began 🥹 We are all very hopeful that she will regain full function, but only time will tell. Today her left leg retracted back from a pain test!!

Girlfriend made some major milestone’s today in the steps towards upgrading out of the ICU

✅Passed a swallow test - now she can eat and drink
✅Said a bunch of new words (beyond the annoying neuro check questions she’s been asked every hour)
✅Started the long road of PT/OT therapy - it was very painful but she did it
✅Neuro checks moved to every two hours

😭we had a long cry together about Volleyball as she knows she was supposed to be in Rhode Island this coming weekend

😂and then (this was the highlight of my day) she had longest, most expressive laugh when I started naming off the BOYS from school who signed her card!

She will surely disown me someday for sharing all of this 🤪 Today was a great day!
