Good Morning my “SWEET” peeps!
I wanted to try and give you a little heads up of where my reopening stands.
Sadly, the last surgery in September was a bust. I went into this last surgery (which I had thought was going to be my final and last surgery) to help with the severe dry eye that I was left with as a side effect of the radiation, along with my long awaited reconstruction from my original surgery. The constant, non-stop tearing of my eyes has made it very difficult to see without constantly having to wipe my eyes. My surgeon knew going in that the radiation had caused damage with lots of scar tissue that has completely closed both tear ducts. Unfortunately, once in realized it was worse than they thought. The scar tissue is extremely thick. The right eye they were able to get in without to much difficulty but, the left eye (where I had the cancer) she was only able to get half the stent in before it hemorrhaged making it hard to control the bleeding. I left the operating room with the left eye having 1/2” the stent and right eye with an entire stent and tubing.
Unfortunately, one week after surgery the right started showing an infection. I contacted the surgeon on day 2 when an infection line showed up. The following day this infection line causing started down my cheek. My eye was swollen and red. I was contact with my surgeon with email photo. They started me on oral antibiotics on the first day infection but after seeing how fast the infection was spreading brought me in to remove the stent and tubing and adding antibiotic drops 4 times a day. Thankfully, after 5 days the infection was finally cleared up. The stent and tubing in the left eye will be taken out next week.
This means I’m left exactly where I was pre surgery with the constant tearing.
I will now have to go back into surgery on December 13th where they will do what’s called the “Jones” procedure. This is where they will create a new drainage system from my eyes to my nose, bypassing the tear duct system.
This obviously pushes my ability to reopen my shop anytime soon impossible. I pray this next surgery will be the answer.
I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to update sooner but, it’s been a roller coaster year from the effects of radiation, appointments and surgeries.
I’m praying 2024 will finally be the year I’ll be able to get back to what I love doing. Love and miss you all. ❤️❤️❤️
