I baked several loaves of sourdough discard pumpkin bread to donate the refreshment table at my daughter‘s choir concert. On Saturday evening I received one of the greatest compliments. I always love hearing how much people enjoy the things I bake, but this comment struck a cord because this is my goal! The compliment started by raving about the texture, how all of the spices were beautifully blended, and then they said, “It tastes like real food.” And then proceeded to compare it to how you can taste the artificial aspects in grocery store breads, and even some other bakeries.

This has always been and always will be my VigilAuntie goal: To provide quality goods, made with organic or very high quality/non GMO/locally sourced ingredients, and to never cut corners for sake of profit (I’ll be honest, there’s not a lot of profit in my cottage bakery, but that’s not why I do it). I make things that I also feed my family. I guard what goes in and on their bodies. I care about what people consume and I hope to be part of the quality goods that are consumed by others. I want people to have peace of mind when purchasing and consuming my products. So, to be told that my food tastes like real food is indeed an honor!
