Minerva's Musings has come out of its hiatus! We are beginning to revamp our business, our look, and will be moving back to Delaware. Due to COVID-19, we will be closed until mid-August and will make another announcement once we are ready to take orders. Stay safe, and we look forward to hearing from you!

The wedding cake I made for the Simone wedding. The cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting, topped with black vanilla fondant. Their colors were red, black, and silver, so I went with a red rose theme to go with their topper and used silver accents. It complimented one of the bride's dresses really well.

Topper Purchased from DNACreations:

It has been ages! But I have gotten myself back to what I enjoy doing and I have been taking a break to spend time with my family. I will be posting the Simone wedding cake in a moment, now that it is seven months later! I have one quick announcement, though: at the end of the summer, I will be moving to Chicago! I am uncertain how much I will be doing my small business there, but it will be much easier to find a job doing what I love in a big city. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

I've baked yet another wedding cake for the Simone wedding, taking place (technically) tonight! It was my first two-tiered cake, so I'm hoping it will be received well. Pictures to follow after the event!

My husband is absolutely obsessed with Alice in Wonderland, and at the time of his birthday, he was constantly playing the game 'Alice: Madness Returns'. So, I decided his birthday cake that year would be based off of the game. This was made for him in our home, so apologies for the less-than-professional shots! Strawberry cake with buttercream fondant in Antique White, adhered to the cake with strawberry buttercream. The toppers of the cake are maraschino cherries, vanilla buttercream, and red cake decorating writing gel. Total Time: Approximately 16 hours. Date: April 1, 2013.

This was the first cake I ever made with fondant (ever), which is why it looks a bit rubbish. We couldn't afford to have the cake made, so I made it! It was a lemon cake with strawberry buttercream filling. While the exterior looks less than stellar, I can assure you that the taste was excellent. We obtained the cake topper from http://www.weddingmountain.com/ and the mini quaich from http://www.scotclans.com. Date: August 29, 2012
