I have unfortunately been to busy to post much as of late. Since shifting focus to sweets and baked goods Colton has hung up his chefs hat and let me fully take over the helm. As with all change there have been growing pains, but as always family comes first! I've blocked out certain times and dates to set aside for family and downtime. Our kiddos won't be little forever so we want to make sure we get to enjoy it while still pursuing my love of baking for all you wonderful folks! A name change is imminent to reflect rebranding so keep an eye out! In the mean time I have some of my new favorite bakes to show off, enjoy! -Aleix

Work and life have been crazy, but good things are in-store as well as changes. As you all know we're moving this fall and will be changing our business model from an open storefront to strictly commission and catering based specializing in our custom cakes, cookies and more. This will open the potential to do online decorating tutorials and classes down the line. We are so grateful that our small little mom and pop business has received so much love and support from everyone and we are so excited for what the future holds!

This last weekend I was able to make a very special cake for someone very near and dear to my heart. ❤ Someone who's been a huge baking inspiration and I'm so happy she was able to visit and meet her newest great grand baby, my grandmother.

A decadent chocolate cake complmented by a rich raspberry filling, as elegant and timeless as my grandmother herself.

This cake was a ball to make! What a delicious cookie topped cake for a special 2nd birthday.

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone! Shout out to everyone who swung by both new and familar faces we sold out of all of the sweets and treats we made. We wish everyone a safe and fun holiday weekend. What Hometown means to us...

Our Message: They say home is where the heart is so it seemed only natural for my husband and I to follow this adventure together, in a place that means so much to us in so many ways. For years I had the dream of opening up a small business where people could eat and spend time with their loved ones and friends. Somewhere they could call a home away from home. Now we are in the works of making it a reality.

Our Mission: We aim to bring not only a bakery to Merrill but access to quality artisan style homemade food using locally sourced ingredients and incorporate other local surrounding small businesses. We wish to further the sense of community within Merrill with a family friendly atmosphere where customers can come and sit a while and chat about their day or take their treats to go, because we understand life can get hectic. Hometown Bakery would stand out against the corporate chain store in both quality and person-ability when it comes to needing cakes personalized for special events, because they should be just that, special! We also plan to make Gluten free, Keto friendly, and sugar/dairy free options available.

Our Venue: Skippers Restaurant was a fixture of the community for 80 years and we want preserve such a wonderful place in our own way by further instilling what it symbolized to Merrill. I personally have a deep nostalgia for the business and building in it’s entirety and I want to do right by it. We will be undergoing remodeling starting September 2019 but we want to take into account the local area and wish to showcase themes and elements from it’s history and surroundings. We plan to reach out to local artist and other resources during this time to incorporate their works, because that’s what it’s all about; community. We are building this business for everyone to enjoy, a true extension of Merrill as a whole.
