MVBS is a fully licensed and inspected home bakery in Mercersburg, PA, opening in January of 2025. Owned and operated by Shelby, MVBS's goal is to provide the local community with freshly baked sourdough breads and bring people together over tables of good, home-baked foods.

Bagels took a much needed break from the menu last month, but now they're back!

These bad boys are absolutely delicious (breakfast sammies, anyone?), but they require significantly more hands-on time and the boiling process means even more heat-production in the kitchen, so the month of July felt like a good time to take a break from them after a few too many times where our kitchen surpassed 90*F 😰

A likely permanent change: They are available on Saturdays ONLY, and in limited quantities due to production and time limits. That means if pre-orders come in hot on a given Saturday, there may not be ANY available for walk-ups on the stand! So you know I'll always recommend you head to www.hotplate.com/mvbs to order them ahead of time so you don't miss out! 😉

The garden is in full swing AND it's bread stand day!

We've got lots of tomatoes and peppers, plain sourdough bread, fresh-milled sourdough bread, lemon cookies, and chocolate chip cookies!

Need some inspiration for using up all the summer produce?

Try:
- Stuffed bell peppers (or our personal preference of a one-pan stuffed pepper goulash)
- Italian sausage and sweet peppers
- Creamy tomato orzo and chicken
- Dip your peppers in hummus
- Dice your tomatoes for salads or wraps (we've been making a pork gyro recipe lately with cherry tomatoes and avocado on top and it is delicious 😍)
