At Batter & Mac, we believe in community over competition. It’s why we choose to host guest instructors and retail products from other local businesses. We want to teach you what we do because we love sharing our passion and our joy and giving that opportunity to other instructors in our community is such a privilege and an honor. It is humbling to have experts in their fields use our space to teach what they love and bring friends and strangers together under one roof.

We also respect our instructors. We understand that this is their livelihood and we compensate them fairly. We work hard to create a fun environment for the instructors and the students.

If you’ve been here a while, you know that we love recommending other local businesses we think are doing fantastic work. We looooove hyping up our friends (and people we’ve never met!) We never post disparaging comments, or tell people not to try something or eat somewhere. It’s not been our style.

However, we also know that it’s our job to stand up for what is right. And that many of you feel the same way and that many of you will choose to spend your dollars at places that share your values. That’s why we have decided to act very out of character and call your attention to a situation that we simply cannot sit by and watch happen.

Another well-known teaching kitchen in Waukesha has been threatening to cancel instructor’s courses if they teach at our space. We attempted to clear this up with them directly and they brushed us off. These instructors are private contractors who did not sign a non-compete. They are hindering the ability of instructors to make a living through threats. It’s not right.

This is wrong on so many levels. And we think you all deserve to know. Many of our instructors teach at several locations around town and we’d be happy to help you find their classes at any location. We know our classes sell out, we know that not every date will work for every person, but we genuinely want our instructors to succeed. And we want you to learn and have fun! Please let us help connect you to our instructors so you can take a class at one of the other fabulous locations they may teach at. We don’t own the idea of cooking classes. No one does. We love a culinary journey for you, please take classes! But maybe consider spending those dollars at a place with integrity, just DM us and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Well.

It’s time. Time to shut this shop down.

What will you miss most about the old shop? The door you can’t open? Getting rained on by the air conditioner? The murder basement? I know Kasey and I are going to have a hard time adjusting to not being on top of one another while working. So many memories in this tiny space. But ready to make so many more in the new one!

Please come celebrate with us and clean us out this weekend! We’ll have specials all weekend so we can move inventory! We want to use up all our ingredients before we close down for two weeks. We’ll post flash sales, give our loyalty customers double points, and more. So come on in!

We will open up our new store in the vibrant, beautiful heart of Menomonee Falls on Saturday, November 4th at 9 AM.

We will have all our usual treats you’ve come to love. Plus all our new stuff we think you’ll love.

It’s Sunday and the game is on at noon! So Kasey sliced up lots of extra ham for ya today.

And, ope! Surprise! We now offer pretzel buns for a $2 upgrade!

See you on Main St in Menomonee Falls from 9-2. Get there early! She sliced up more than last week but we can’t promise we won’t sell out again. Limited space for just a few more weeks!

Why, yes. We do have Rainbow Land Cherry Soda in stock! And it’s delicious.

When thinking about how to let you all know that our new "Rainbow Land" Cherry Soda is starting to hit stores in Wisconsin, it struck us again how amazingly beautiful this can art is, how it was inspired by very ugly events in our hometown of Minocqua, and how we connected with an artist named Season Polsin to turn that ugliness around into pure joy.

Humans, while so extremely flawed, have an amazing capacity for hope, resilience, and optimism--even in the face of constant struggle.

How beautiful and necessary those universal human qualities are.

We were recently introduced to the song "Beauty" by a fantastic singing group called Kings Return, and the lyrics to this song fit perfectly into the theme of remembering and focusing on all the beautiful things, IN SPITE OF all the bad things.

Oh man. We doubled our normal ham and rolls amount and SOLD OUT in 2 hours.

Thank you so much for the support. We love you all so much and cannot wait to be in our new space where we can make SO MANY MORE ROLLS and SLICE SO MUCH MORE HAM.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with the incomparable to make some very rad tshirt designs and they are now available in shop!

The cake and mac design is available in adult and youth sizes. The Menomonee Falls ham sammies are in adult sizes.
